How the vision and entrepreneurial mind of one man can change the future of a whole country.
18 years ago today Harrisons were proud to represent Peter Munk and attend the signing ceremony with President Djukanovic of the deal for Porto Montenegro. In my humble view a project which changed the course of Montenegro. Peter is a legend. RIP.

Judged by results is the Lombardi tradition, Ken. Thanks for sharing. It seems wins and losses have many measures. We tend to tally performance and value metrics for leadership but our own interest helps imagine them for ourselves and others. Performance and value measures can include alms given, assets protected, bends negotiated, critical incidents mitigated, children mentored, deaths averted, empathy afforded, extortions accounted for, fire alarms responded to, gardens tended, helping hands extended, illnesses and injuries improved, justice delivered, killers charged, lost souls recovered or remanded to care, mothers and fathers thanked, nature preserved, oppressors stopped, people protected,...and the list goes on. Finding our own team's value before, during or after judgment by others can be both humbling and rewarding. It may not always be appreciated in the moment, but it may be our only legacy gift to give, subject to improvement by others. What are the results you care to judged by?

A recent survey came out in our local Canadian media. It found that a large majority of Canadians would vote for Kamala Harris in the US election. Ironically, the majority of Canadians despise our current leader, who is essentially the male equivalent of Kamala. So let's be clear Canada- support for a woman who locked up parents because of truant students, at least some of whom were truant due to health reasons. support for someone who wants to defund police, has allowed open border policies, and revolving door policies for criminals. So basically, you are supporting the same ideological policies as our current PM, who allows criminals to run around freely, locks up peaceful trucker convoy protesters, allowed and promoted 500k immigrants to enter Canada, per year, without the proper infrastructure to support them, leaving Canada in a housing crisis. Our country is in flames because of him. America! Please do not trust Canadian judgement (except mine of course :)) otherwise you will end up with a female clone of our leader, minus the French language upgrade.

Many of us say, "If I can just reach one person in the room" on the leadership journey. This has been an essential tool to encourage me to continue my journey. After branching out and taking the big step of being a podcast guest and sharing my unique view of leadership, I wondered if any of my teammates watched the podcast. I got my answer from a teammate who shared his thoughts on the podcast with me. After he left my office, it was clear I "reached one person" and inspired them. These types of interactions are essential in our leadership journey and can help us continue the journey. I hope this post helps another person BELIEVE they can "unearth the true boldness within!" #BELIEVE2024, #TrueBold #Leadership #Leadershipjourney #leedon

Steven Gleason's acceptance speech for the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs profoundly touched me, especially his words: "It's clear to me that our ability to courageously share our vulnerabilities with each other is our greatest strength." This resonated deeply with me, as I grew up in a Catholic family where discussing struggles and vulnerabilities was often taboo. We were taught to hide our challenges, to not "air the dirty laundry." This culture of silence can be isolating and prevents true healing and authenticity. Steve's message challenges this mindset. By openly sharing his own vulnerabilities in his journey with ALS, he exemplifies how courage and strength can come from transparency and honesty. In a world where we often feel pressured to present a perfect facade, his words remind us of the power in being real and open with each other. We have one life to live, and it's crucial to embrace it fully—by being bold, open, and accepting of ourselves and others. Steven's speech is a powerful reminder to break down the barriers of silence and to find strength in our shared human experiences. Another moment in his speech that stood out to me, was when he spoke about the importance of purpose and connection. He said, "We are not alone. We are in this together." These words serve as a reminder that, despite our individual struggles, we can find solidarity and support in our communities if we have the courage to be vulnerable. Steven's journey and his words inspire me to live more authentically, to be open about my own struggles, and to support others in theirs. It's a reminder that our greatest strength lies not in hiding our vulnerabilities but in sharing them, fostering a deeper connection and understanding with those around us. https://lnkd.in/gSPY7tiR

I had to repost again, Rob's original post got me to watch Steve's speech, which then led to to look Steve up more where I found a show on Amazon Prime about Steve Gleason. If you haven’t seen Steve Gleason's acceptance speech for the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs, I urge you to put down everything you are doing and listen for a few minutes. His words on courage, fear, fearlessness, and resilience are truly inspiring. They left a profound impact on me, and I believe they will do the same for you. Steve Gleason, a former NFL player, and New Orleans hero, was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 34. Doctors gave him two to five years to live. Instead of succumbing to fear or despair, Steve chose to live his life to the fullest. His journey is captured in the Amazon Prime show "Gleason," which I highly recommend. This incredible man documented his experiences through personal video journals for his then-unborn son and shared his adventures and mission to live fully despite his diagnosis. His story is a testament to the power of the human spirit, and his character, fortitude, and resilience are truly inspiring. Steve Gleason's journey reminds us that true courage is not the absence of fear, but the determination to move forward despite it. It is about embracing life with all its challenges and choosing to make every moment count. His mindset and resilience are a beacon of hope and strength for all of us. In a world where we often face our own battles, Steve's story encourages us to look within and find the strength to persevere. It’s a powerful reminder that we can overcome adversity with the right mindset and a resilient spirit. Let Steve Gleason's story inspire you to live boldly, to face your fears head-on, and to never let anything hold you back from living a life full of purpose and passion. As Rob Pallante said, "The word 'courage' doesn't do him justice." Watch his speech, watch the show, and let his journey inspire you to cultivate a champion mindset. Embrace resilience, build character, and live life to its fullest potential. #ChampionMindset #SteveGleason #Inspiration #Resilience #Courage #MindsetMatters #LiveBoldly
