Bitumen 40/50, a simple definition #Bitumen #40_50 is like a black and #sticky glue that is produced by combining #crudeoil with air. This bitumen can penetrate 40 to 50 mm in 100 seconds into the underlying rock. Bitumen 40/50 #4050 #bitumen becomes soft at high temperatures and hard at low temperatures. This feature makes 40/50 bitumen suitable for applications that require #adhesion at high temperatures and durability at low temperatures. For example, 40/50 bitumen is used to produce #asphalt that is exposed to high and low temperatures. 40/50 bitumen is produced through the #vacuum #baton aeration process. In this process, the vacuum baton (a by-product of crude oil refining) is exposed to air. Air reacts with the organic compounds in the #vacuum_baton and creates crosslinks between molecules. Continuous Rotary Drum Vacuum Filter: It is used at Soda Ash Plant to filter the slurry from Carbonating Towers. It consists of a hollow revolving drum covered with the sieve (200 – 250 mesh) and partially submerged in the slurry (“Magma” from Carbonating Towers). This “Magma” contains: ·Crude NaHCO3 (Solid, By Calcination Na2CO3 is produced) ·NH4Cl (Liquid, NH3 is recovered from it) The “Magma” is placed in a trough which consists of a plough to agitate the slurry. Vacuum is generated inside the rotary drum with the help of “Vacuum Pump” and “Magma” flows due to pressure difference across the Sieve. The solids (Crude NaHCO3) are deposited outside the rotary drum and scraped and collected.
