In 2007, I led the New England region for total sales at Libery Mutual. On paper it didn’t make sense. This was my first job out of school. I didn’t graduate at the top of my class. I didn’t have an established network in the region. The only sales experience I had was at a used futon store. But I had something most didn’t. I had time. I had nothing to lose. In 2007, I learned an important lesson: Availability is the strongest predictor of total sales. I used inexperience as an asset. I was available, always. Your weakness to others is typically a strength disguised. Be available 👊🏻

National be nice to a salesperson day: Sales is a tough job , many peoples perceptions of sales may glamourize the job. Its the salesperson who has to win the orders , deal with disappointment , rejection , bad manners and resentful people. Sales is long hours and stressful , always chasing the orders and new business , some sleepless nights . Ghosting from targets who expect the earth today, site visits hundreds of miles away then don't have the courtesy to respond. The next time you interact with a salesperson remember were only human and we do have feelings we have families , problems , pets and mortgages to pay and one day you will need a salesperson. I disappear for walks with my dog Wally ,he has a really calming effect on me and helps me mentally unwind , dogs are kind animals as a rule and show nothing but love to the owners maybe we should try to be as loving and caring ourselves . Please be nice to us . P.S I do not think there is a national be nice to a salesperson day but if not maybe there should be. Have a lovely weekend #benice #sales #kindness

Here’s what two years of door-to-door sales taught me about life -> 1. You can’t have progress without pain - It’s hard work, and you will get yelled at. 2. Opportunity is created not given - Luck can only go so far. Preparation is key. 3. Consistency is the great equalizer - As exciting as big sales days are, it’s the small everyday sales that add up. 4. Seek to understand first, then add value - Every customer is just a person with a problem to solve. Listen with real intent. 5. Learn to love progress, not results - There’s no such thing as bad days. Just character building days. 6. Never underestimate the power of kindness - I can’t say enough about this one.
