From The Daily Signal:
"In an explosive report by the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty, William Flanders analyzed data from Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction and revealed that the sudden tidal wave of new students displaced by the end of school choice would have overwhelmed the state’s public schools, severely compromising the quality of education available to Wisconsin students.
For example, the Milwaukee Public Schools would have gone from a surplus of more than 20,000 seats to a deficit of more than 17,000—necessitating the immediate purchase or construction of at least 17 new school buildings. Likewise, to maintain its current student-teacher ratio, Milwaukee Public Schools would have needed to hire almost 2,400 additional teachers—a nearly 57% increase in its current teaching staff."

REMEMBER PUBLIC EDUCATION IN THE 1950s AND 1960s?
Remember when public schools were segregated, when whites fled to the suburbs? Remember the 1970s when the Department of Education came into being with a mandate to make sure that education was equal and accessible for all? But what about education's future should Republicans win in 2024 and implement Project 2025 plans for education. Do you know what Republican plans are for educating America's youth?

US Civil Rights Violations & Criminal Activity on Campuses - GOP Senators articulate legal avenues for Jewish students & path for defunding of colleges receiving Federal funds violating Title VI. Senator Cotton has explicitly said universities are liable for Civil Rights violations and will be subject to civil suit damages. Senator Cotton recommends Jewish students should start action by filing complaints with Dept of Education. He states, “College Administrators are not doing their jobs”.
Moral Clarity Absent in Biden Administration & Democratic Leadership
GOP Senators represented in this address are united in their denouncement of the President’s failure to take necessary action to restore order on American 🇺🇸 campuses. Universally, they reason Biden’s equivocation rests with his political agenda, not his duty to uphold existing law. He is catering to votes in Michigan & Minnesota.
Senator Schumer has called for new elections in Israel. The spirit of his position is tantamount to endorsing a coup in a democratic sovereign nation, undermining current Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. This action undermines US Foreign Policy specific to US-Israel Alliance and poses a threat to our National Security. He should be censured for advocating this position, which will not occur due to Democrats holding a majority in Senate.
Arrests records post clearing of illegal encampments on several campuses from Columbia to UT(Texas) has revealed up to 50% of detainees are not students, nor other affiliation with respective universities. Guns and mallets were found in encampments. Funding of protests have been linked to George Soros and dark money behind Antifa & BLM.

Shared this article with a teacher mentor/colleague of mine and ended up having an amazing conversation that has got me thinking about the heart of education.
They pointed out a significant challenge - teachers often prioritize relationships that make instruction easier, rather than fostering genuine student transformation. This also has me pondering on the socioemotional learning of adults and its impact on student-centered relationships. They rightly highlighted the need for SEL in teacher prep and PD. Healing from our traumas is crucial for guiding students through tough times. To add more complexity to our conversation, I also brought up the importance of having multiple layers of healed adults in students' lives, especially during critical transitions like moving from grammar to high school... it got me wondering, are there SEL metrics for these transitions?
Check out the article, reflect, and share your thoughts. How can we reshape education to truly nurture student growth and SEL?

Research indicates that relationships in schools matter, but what does a relationship-centered school actually look like?

Key word - Centered! I can’t tell you how many conversations I’ve had about the missing link in a classroom. Relationships. Has to start with adult to student but our students need to see the value of those relationships so they can then be cultivated amongst their classmates. With pressures of getting through curriculum, students won’t get far without being seen, heard and knowing they are valued. That happens with relationships.
