https://lnkd.in/gdU7uYPS Over he last few decades, "counterfeit" parts, electronics and metals have been a persistent problem. even a simple google search will reveal these. the govt has thee GIDEP programs for reporting these. there are DFAR clauses that restrict procuring these, (sorry for the acronyms ). As a trained and practicing specialist in such matters, i have seen that In such instances, hardware has been. cleared based on risk (technical, schedule and cost) assessments . in this case, the FAA, must have been part of past amd current dispositions. with the FAA delegating Oversight to Boeing, should i be surprised. titanium shortage is an issue too. finally, there have been many examples of recalls and fixes as a result of each discoveries. "know your supply chain" has been the mantra but you also need talented and engineers who can understand amd visit those suppliers. my positive takeaway from this revelation is that this is in the public discussion now, in the past these were hush hush. .
