2023 marked 30 years since a pioneering launch of the Nordic Explorer. Back in 1993, PGS’ latest vessel was equipped with a record-breaking five streamers for her maiden job on UKCS Quad 204/205 in the Faroe-Shetland Basin. What drew people's attention at the time was the volume of data collected and the duration taken to complete the job🚢 Initially the size of the survey area was 1020 sq. km for an acquisition period for 150 days. This gradually grew to 1774 sq. km and was completed in just 135 days, on 2 September. We were delighted with an average production of 558 CMP km per day. The new layout of two winches forward with under-spooling, and radio controlled digital data options and PLC-controlled synchronization of the streamer winches changed how back-deck operations were done for years to come. PGS was established as a leader in streamer handling and operational efficiency and has maintained that position. #fleet2beat #DedlicatedReliablePioneer Read more about how Nordic Explorer changed the game here -https://hubs.li/Q02dnRQG0
Started my career on Nordic Explorer as 1.engineer April 1993. The learning curve was almost vertical and l continued a year later as Chief engineer on Atlantic Explorer that become my baby.
And then the Nordic went to Nigeria , first time we met! 😊 😀
Lovely vessel but, I spent time on her in 2018 when she was already under Vestland management and she was too old by then.
I still have this picture. So nice memories.
It's time to go India already.
From Japan, through all SE Asia, across Pacific to Atlantic, all the way up to Greenland. Years of great memories 👍
