HOPP SCHWIIZ! Switzerland is playing against England in the quarter-finals of the EURO later today. If you do not know much about football: well, that is quite a sensation. It reminds us a bit of Asterix and Obelix fighting against the Roman Empire, and if you read any of the Schweizer Illustrierte, Blick, or Aargauer Zeitung articles in the last few weeks, you might guess what their Magic Potion is 😅🧪

Are you wondering why a red card was shown during the Germany vs. Scotland Euro match? In an intense game in Munich, the first Euros game, Scotland's captain, Ryan Porteous, received a red card just before the first half ended for a tackle. The referee's decision-making is always challenging, especially in host country matches like Germany's, where decisions can be seen as biased.
Before showing a card, referees consider three crucial factors about a tackle:
❌Careless:This occurs when a player lacks attention or consideration during a tackle, potentially endangering opponents. It may not result in a card unless it stops a promising attack or poses a danger.
⚠️ Reckless:Players act with complete disregard for their opponent's safety in reckless challenges, often risking injury. A yellow card is typically given for reckless behavior.
🚩Excessive Force:Using more force than necessary, putting opponents at risk, constitutes excessive force. This serious offense usually results in a straight red card and potential games.
The captain of Scotland,Ryan, used excessive force hence the red card.
Let us enjoy the second half. 😎

Germany’s Tactical Dilemma: To Win or Avoid Spain in Last 16 Clash
As the Euro 2024 group stage draws to a close, Germany finds itself in a peculiar position. Despite already securing a spot in the knockout stages, the debate over tactical positioning looms large ahead of their final group match against Switzerland. A win or even a draw would cement their place at the top of the group, but it comes with a potential price—a showdown with the formidable Spain in the round of 16.
Julian Nagelsmann, the German national team coach, has made his intentions clear: Germany will play to win against Switzerland, disregarding the risk of facing Spain in the next round. This bold declaration reflects a mentality deeply rooted in the German football ethos—always aiming for victory, irrespective of the opponents or potential challenges ahead.
The calculus is straightforward yet laden with strategic implications. By finishing first in Group B, Germany will inevitably set up a clash with Spain, a team that has shown exceptional form throughout the tournament. Spain's fluid midfield, incisive passing, and defensive solidity have marked them as one of the standout teams, making them a daunting prospect for any opponent.
Conversely, a tactical maneuver to secure ...

The key objective of the UEC is to create a democratic model for European club football, to protect the clubs who provide benefits to the football ecosystem and develop players, to give them a voice, replicating the one club/one vote principle embedded in UEFA’s statutes where each National Association has one vote in a secret ballot.
Cracking matches at the Euros, haven't they been? 🏆 The England squad's been a blend of grit and flair, showing moments of brilliance that remind us why we love the game. Scotland held their ground with a spirit and tenacity that deserves applause. 🏴🏴
And Germany? A well-oiled machine, for sure. Those highlights? Pure football artistry. It's like every tournament, they redefine 'impressive'. 🇩🇪💪

The list of clubs who have participated in the development of the players reflects the interdependency between the clubs at the top of the pyramid and those at the bottom. The UEC is advocating for new Solidarity solutions and benefits for the clubs who develop the players – protecting the European model of sport and the pyramid.
🇳🇱 The #Netherlands face a big clash tonight against France!
🌟 Concentration of talent if very high in Dutch football, including at youth levels, but a few clubs outside the top 3 stand out: Sparta Rotterdam, ADO Den Haag, FC Volendam and Willem II are prime examples

THE KINGS OF EURO!! WHO IS NEXT OF KIN.
🇪🇺 European Football Championship formerly known as European Nations Cup had its first tournament in the year 1960 where France 🇫🇷hosted and saw the Soviet Union as the first time winners .
From the year 1960 to date has seen this tournament evolve tremendously where nations fight boot for boot to emerge as crown winners,
unveiling an era of new players and honoring countries whose names are printed permanently in football⚽️ history.
Countries like Germany 🇩🇪and Spain 🇪🇸who have three titles to their name with France 🇫🇷and Italy🇮🇹 following suit with two titles each to their names are all vying to repeat and rewrite history.
🇩🇪With Germany hosting this years Euros 2024
*Will Germany set a new record by getting ahead of Spain to make it four times Champions or Spain will?
*Will England imprint it’s name in History as being first time winners of the European Championship this Euro 2024?
The whole can either be greater/lesser than the sum of the parts. For the England football team, the whole have always been lesser than the parts when it comes to major tournaments. This could also be seen from the performance of the England football team vs the Denmark in the Euro 2024. As per the market reports, the market valuation of England players is around Euro 1 billion ( the highest in the tournament) as compared to Euro 300 million of their opposition Denmark. The England Team has the likes of Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, who are superstars for their respective clubs. But when it comes to the national stage, the whole becomes a problem. This tells a very important management lesson, that a team should not be entirely based on player/personal profile, but it should depend on the position/work profile and on who can fit and perform the best in the role. What England team does or have done in the last 2 decades have been building the team on the basis of players and not based on the position/role.This could be seen when Steven Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham, Scholes were tried to be fitted in the team. Hence, the performance of the England team is not a surprise for those who follow the sport closely. While the Denmark Team did not have players of big personal profile but had players who can do their specific job/role at the end of the day. That's what team management is all about. As a well wisher for the England Team, let's hope Gareth Southgate does some bold changes to take them deep in the tournament. It all stems down to the basics of put your team based on the profile of the role and not based on the profile of the person. #management lesson # learn through sports.#euro2024.
