Project Management and passion….. I am updating my LinkedIn profile, which seems to be a never ending task :-), over time I have added too many Skills and needed to narrow them down to the ones that really count. Doing that I got to think about what is it really that defines if a person is good at something? My passion is Project, Program and Stakeholder management…..it is also Strategy, Execution and Management. These six areas are the important ones for me. I have other skills that do not necessarily come from project management. I clearly use them in projects and they might be the real drivers for what I do in projects. They are, - strong analytical skills, - helicopter and holistically view, - super power in finding the important details, - risk and consequences mindset, - investment focus, knowledge about how to make money. After I announced that I am looking for a new job, I have received messages from people telling me what I did for them…it gave me a reminder on what I should keep doing. I should, - continue to search for learning and get inspired from others and their experiences. - continue to challenge boundaries, so we can become better together. - continue talking, mentoring and coaching. I came to the conclusion that the above cannot stand alone. What makes the difference is when I use the above and add Interpersonal, Communication and Coaching skills, those become the drivers for Management and Leadership in projects and programs. It could be interesting to get in touch with persons and companies to expand the dialogue about projects and programs and how to make them better.
