5th -11 February is National Apprenticeship Week! We have been catching up with some colleagues who are currently on PWDS apprenticeship programmes. Lauren, who a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) spoke with us about her experience: Why did you choose to do a pharmacy technician apprenticeship? “I have a passion for helping and caring for others. I was eager to shift my career path and embrace new learning opportunities. The apprenticeship appealed to me as it allows me to work and study, providing a practical, hands-on approach to learning” What’s the best thing about doing an apprenticeship? “The blend of practical experience and academic learning it offers, gaining hands-on experience while also studying and acquiring theoretical knowledge. This combination helps you understand the practical applications of your studies and equips you with the skills needed in the real world” What advice would you give someone considering an apprenticeship? “Understand the apprenticeship course: including the balance between work and study days. Ask Questions: don’t hesitate to inquire about any aspects of the apprenticeship that you’re unsure about. The more information you have, the better equipped you’ll be to succeed. Establish a strong support network: friends, family, or mentors who can provide advice, encouragement, and understanding during your apprenticeship”

Lucie, who a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) at UHBW spoke with us about her experience: Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship? “I chose an apprenticeship because I wanted the structure and routine of working day-to-day and still being able to gain a qualification. In our August issue, we share a 5 Minutes With Mandy Mcmullen, the Head of Curriculum and Development at Kleek Apprenticeships, discussing the importance of supporting apprentices in salons ❤️ There are several important ways salons can help their apprentices make the most of their training for future success. 🌍 Creating a nurturing environment: Apprentices should feel comfortable asking questions, seeking advice and sharing their ideas without fear of judgement. Celebrating their contributions can significantly boost their morale and motivation. 💇♀️ Comprehensive training: Salons should offer a structured training programme through an accredited apprenticeship training provider that covers both theoretical and practical aspects of hairstyling. Allowing apprentices to assist with real clients under supervision is vital for them to gain practical experience and build confidence. It is #nationalapprenticeshipweek 2024 and I'm so proud of our trade apprentices. Since I've join I have seen three qualify and we've created a pipeline with 9 more working toward promising careers in engineering. We have an incredible group of driven young people in engineering and non-engineering roles who are training and working to help us create a #betterworldofwork #apprenticeships #thefuture
This week marks the 2024 National Apprenticeship week. A week where I get to see first hand the real impact an apprenticeship has not only for the apprentices, but the business around them. It was a privilege to see 6 EMCOR UK apprentices based at GSK Stevenage stand before Senior management within EMCOR UK but also our client. No easy task. Each Apprentice gave a clear and concise talk about an area in which they had works. They spoke with conviction and clarity on their subject. At the end of all the presentations 3 Apprentices were presented with a trophy for Outstanding Achievement in 2023. These individuals, Jack, Connor, and Cameron have shown a high level of enthusiasm and dedication to their learning. Keep up the good work! #AbetterWorldAtWork
