Inspirational Keynote Speaker I Performance Coach I Blind Golf Champion Blind Guy providing perspective to help others see the power of interdependence, personally & professionally
I once gave a presentation to five hundred young men who were interested in joining a fraternity at Texas Christian University. After sharing my experience of suddenly losing my sight as a 19-year-old sophomore in college, a vulnerable conversation unfolded—one that highlighted a common struggle many of us face. Accepting changes in our physical abilities is very challenging. So is overcoming the fear of becoming a burden to those around us. One student shared his recent diagnosis with a condition that limited his physical activity, forcing him to give up his passion for playing sports. He also expressed how difficult it was to ask for help, fearing he would be seen as a burden. This fear is something many of us can relate to, especially when life throws us unexpected curveballs that force us to rely on others more than we're used to. In our conversation, I shared a perspective shift that helped me through my own journey of losing my sight: viewing our situation through the lens of those who support us. Instead of seeing ourselves as burdens, we can recognize how our challenges offer friends and family meaningful opportunities to show kindness, care, and empathy. This not only helps us accept help more graciously but also enriches the lives of those around us, making them better individuals. If you're facing a tough time, consider how your journey might be enriching those around you. #PerspectiveShift #EmbracingSupport #OvercomingChallenges #SharedStruggles #StrengthInVulnerability

Absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude for my dear friend Kayha Sorensen! 💖 Her recent gift, a thoughtful card that's become a constant on my mind, has sparked some reflections I'd love to share with you. What if we reimagined our approach to student struggles and challenging behavior in a way that embraced our shared human experience? 🌍 Instead of hastily labeling actions as disruptions, what if we recognized the universal desire for connection and love within each student in our program? Picture a world where, in moments of struggle, both staff and peers respond not with judgment but with empathy. The underlying cry for understanding and support becomes apparent, transforming every challenge into an opportunity for love and compassion. 💕 In this mindset, we become heart nurturers, acknowledging the personal battles each student faces and understanding that these battles may spill into their day-to-day lives. By embracing the idea that every student is, at their core, a human being longing for love and connection, we create an environment where growth and healing extend beyond mastering skills to navigating life's complexities. This approach fosters an atmosphere of acceptance and kindness, allowing our students to feel seen and valued. 🌟 It enables them to flourish and engage in the transformative work needed for healing and growth. As this mindset ripples through our programs, it has the power to reshape not only our interactions with students but also the way we learn from one another. Ultimately, recognizing the shared humanity in every student serves as a powerful reminder that the hard work we do is about nurturing hearts. Embracing this perspective lays the foundation for a compassionate and inclusive community of students who understand the profound truth: We Are All, First and Foremost, Human Beings Who Crave Love and Understanding. #OasisascentRTC #Oasisdaytreatment #Evoke #NurturingHearts #CompassionInAction

The Gift of Connection in Academia 🤝💼 This holiday season, let's unwrap the power of support in academia. Remember, as Maya Angelou said, "We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry." Here's how we can weave that tapestry together: • 🌐 Connect Virtually: Reach out to a fellow student. Virtual coffee chats or study sessions can foster a sense of community. • 🤲 Offer a Listening Ear: Sometimes, the greatest gift is being heard. Create a safe space for conversations about challenges and victories. • 🌈 Celebrate Achievements: Acknowledge the accomplishments, no matter how small. Positive reinforcement is a powerful motivator. #AcademicWellbeing #GraduateSupport #CommunityInAcademia

Your perseverance is your trophy. - 🏀 To those who didn’t make the team but found new teams or passions to pursue. Helping individuals unleash and harness their inner brilliance through the transformative AssetYou Self Discovery Coaching
HAVE. KNOW. USE This weekend was nothing short of amazing! I had the honor of welcoming Cohort 1 of The Self Discovery Camp for Girls on Saturday (please watch this space for more on that). We hosted three dynamic sessions tailored to different age groups of girls between 9-20. Engaging with these brilliant young minds was pure bliss, and I realized they understand more than we often give them credit for. One profound takeaway we all agreed on is that having talent, skill, or gifts isn't enough. It's crucial to consciously acknowledge and embrace your unique endowments from from a young age. Recognizing your abilities empowers you in unimaginable ways. However, the real game-changer is the deliberate deployment and engagement of these abilities, talents, and passions. The great individuals we admire today became so because they chose to acknowledge, align with, and actively engage their unique gifts. True transformation happens when you start using your abilities for the benefit of those you are meant to serve. This is the key to unlocking your greatness and gaining recognition. Day 4/21 The Journey Within As I sit down to write today, I wonder if I'm doing this out of habit or a genuine desire to express myself. I wish I could navigate my inner world as effortlessly as I envision my outer journey. I recall the promises I made to myself as a child. By age 25, I would achieve greatness, and make my parents proud. But as time passed, those promises evolved. By age 25, I would be a graduate, and that was a more realistic goal. However, I see the struggles of my peers and myself, fighting to move forward, backward, or even stand still, just to achieve a stable life. The desire of every parent is for their child to surpass them, and I ask myself, does education guarantee greatness? Does providing for a child's needs make a difference? But what about a child with a limiting background? Their story will be different, marked by internal and external struggles, with little to no support. I have many questions swirling in my mind, and I hope growing up will provide the answers. But for now, I want to encourage fellow youths to persevere, to keep pushing forward until they reach their desired destination. These are questions we ask ourselves daily, and it's essential to remember: "Your excuses are seducers, your fears are liars, and your doubts are thieves." We have the power to create a better life for ourselves. #Potentialsinme_Adebola. #lmc21dayslinkedinchallenge.
