Building bridges and forming social connections that allow information and resources to travel between groups that might not ordinarily connect.
On behalf of our entire team at Mentor Connect, I wanted to express our gratitude to Bobby Hulme-Lippert for speaking on our behalf at the Leadership Conference, City of Austin on June 21st, 2024. Your presentation, “Bring Your Dance Moves: How Leaders Cultivate Belonging,” was profoundly impactful. Your explanation of how everyone has unique and important gifts to offer, and how these gifts are best shared when we feel a sense of belonging, resonated deeply with us. We were particularly inspired by your explanation on how leaders can cultivate belonging: 1. Use Improv Comedy’s “Yes, and” as a Leadership Approach – Building from the input, perspective, and strengths of others. 2. Share Stories – Providing outlets for team members to appreciate each other’s stories, even short conversational prompts can quickly build a deeper connection. 3. Practice Gratitude – Offering team members specific, personalized expressions of gratitude and recognition for their work. These approaches are especially beneficial for high school students as we navigate formative years, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that enhances our personal and academic growth. Mentor Connect is truly grateful for your partnership. Naithruv Kashyap, Chief Operations Officer, Mentor Connect Arjun Rajan, Adam Menezes, Shaurya Pathania

I am honored to join #GreenDotPublicSchools, California at the 6th Annual Legacy Conference on February 28 …as a speaker! This year’s theme, “Delivering on Our Promise: Graduating Black Scholars Prepared for College, Leadership and Life,” highlights Green Dot’s commitment to preparing students for the multifaceted challenges and opportunities of the future. My talk will focus on values-based leadership and belonging as cornerstones to effectively activate diverse voices, create safe and brave spaces for Black students, bridge partnerships, change systems, and achieve sustainable outcomes. I will explore the power of values and leadership mindset as building blocks in the mission to elevate learner voice, center belonging, and strengthen connections that support the students’ journey throughout life. A leader in educational equity, Green Dot recognizes that delivering on the promise of education encompasses academic excellence, and it entails fostering leadership qualities and preparing students for life's diverse paths. Green Dot truly believes that every student, whatever their circumstances, holds the innate potential to achieve their goals and succeed in college, leadership, and life, guided by a commitment to consistently approach every student not in terms of what they lack, but in terms of what is possible. The organization’s mission extends to instilling a leadership mindset that transcends the classroom—a vision that inspires young Black minds to assume roles of influence and responsibility in all arenas of society. It is through this empowered lens that students will navigate life's complexities, contribute to their communities, and excel in their chosen fields. Global Leader of Talent, Learning, and Engagement - Value Maximizer | People Developer | Intentional Networker | Deliberate Learner
I am elated to share that The Toro Company will be represented at the NSBE Professionals | National Society of Black Engineers in Atlanta by Kevin Carpenter, VP Global Operations & Integrated Supply Chain. To hear from Kevin we encourage you to attend the Navigating Your Career As a Black Professional panel on March 21 at 2:30 pm. You can also find Kevin throughout the event - He enjoys human connection 😊. In fact, to learn more about him, keep reading... Q: Tell me about your journey to become a senior executive in the integrated supply chain field? A: My career journey can be divided into four main phases: engineering and operations leadership, design engineering and management, product and program leadership, and executive operations and engineering. Each role provided me with a solid foundation across various functional areas within the supply chain, preparing me to manage its complexities effectively. Progression felt natural due to this foundation and training. Q: Share with me about the biggest obstacle you have faced in your professional career and how you conquered it. A: One significant obstacle I faced occurred when I joined a company in a leadership role and much of my team has moved on shortly after. Despite this challenging situation, I persevered by immersing myself in the work, assembling a new team, and introducing more efficient work practices. Through hard work and resilience, I overcame the obstacle, gaining valuable insights into commitment and problem-solving along the way. Q: What are your dreams and hopes for young professionals? A: My hope is for young professionals to realize their destinies by identifying their purpose early on. It's crucial to focus on vision, embrace hard work, anticipate mental challenges, and maintain patient impatience. Fulfillment comes from aligning with one's destiny, and I wish that for them. Q: What makes you laugh? A: I find laughter in engaging with people and experiencing the human connection. It's rewarding and magical, contributing positively to my soul. Both at work and in personal interactions, laughter enriches my life. Q: If I got a hold of your phone, whose number would I want to copy and why? A: You'd want to copy the numbers of my children, Kevin Jr. and Layah, as they are my greatest inspiration. Their presence motivates me every day, and I believe everyone should experience such profound inspiration. Being a father is my greatest accomplishment, and they embody the best of what I aspire to be. #thetorocompany #NSBE50 #techcareers

Proud to share that our team secured a rank of 155 in the Amazon ML Challenge, starting strong but facing an unexpected turn on the final day. 📉 From holding rank 18, we saw a surge of new team submissions jump from 300 to 2700+ in just the last hours! While this sudden shift was devastating and unbelievable, we’re still incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and problem-solving skills we demonstrated throughout the competition. 💪 Sometimes the results don’t reflect the effort, but the journey itself has been a tremendous learning experience, and we’ve grown both as individuals and as a team. On to the next challenge! 🚀 #MachineLearning #AmazonMLChallenge #LearningJourney #Teamwork #DataScience #KeepPushing #GrowthMindset
Glad to share that our team secured the 𝟭𝟱𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 out of the 𝟮,𝟰𝟯𝟴 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 that participated in the 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗟 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰! While we aren’t at the top, I’m proud of the efforts we put in and what we’ve achieved. Big thanks to my teammates Ashish Jha, Saksham Gera, and Auritra Dey for their inputs and support throughout the process. The problem statement pushed us to think unconventionally and make the best use of our knowledge and resources. It was a great learning experience and a rewarding opportunity to represent our college on a national level, competing against some incredibly talented teams across the country. Looking forward to applying what we’ve learned and doing even better in future challenges. #machinelearning #hackathon #amazon

I help organizations go from good to GREAT by driving cultural change and fostering high-performing teams | Executive Coach (PCC ICF) | Global HR Business Partner & Leader | Developing People and Culture
What do you want to celebrate? 🎉 Another week is gone, and with that the first month of the year, have you taken the time to celebrate yourself and your wins, big or small? Here are two ways you can acknowledge your efforts and truly recognize the significant milestones you've achieved without it feeling like a brag: 1️⃣ Reflect & share the journey Pause and look at how far you've come. Recognize the dedication, resilience, and countless hours of hard work that went into anything that you've set your mind to. Acknowledge and share what you've done so far, the highs and lows. When you see the complete picture, instead of the achievements, you put everything in perspective. 2️⃣ Seek an external point of view While working hard, it's easy to lose sight of what we've accomplished, we tend to see all the things that still need to be done. Ask your peers, mentors, or coach - they can provide an objective perspective on your achievements. Share your accomplishments with them and ask for honest feedback. Can they see the value and the impact of what you've done? Celebrating your accomplishments doesn't mean boasting or seeking validation, but recognizing and acknowledging your hard work, building self-confidence, and embracing your growth. So, pause, reflect, and recognize the remarkable things you've recently accomplished, no matter how big or small. 💜 Share them below and let's celebrate you together!

𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗞𝗘𝗬 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥. Over the past few months of studying in the US, I have witnessed how a decision has changed the trajectory of my life and the lives of my friends and colleagues. One decision can make you have a bad grade and retake a course. One decision can make you withdraw from your academics. One decision can make you gain or lose a friendship that was meant for life. One decision can make you the happiest person or the most depressed person on earth. One decision can make every other aspect of your life freeze for a long time because the decision was supposed to be the key to the next phase. The sad part about the one decision is that sometimes it is out of your control and you just wait to know if it will be in your favor or not, no matter what time it takes. If you are currently in the "One decision" phase of your life. Just want to let you know you're not alone and you will get through this phase too. xoxo P.S: I am Tammy Ibeama and I am a 1st year MBA candidate at D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University, I am documenting the real-life hurdles of a Black African international student figuring life in the US.
