I have heard so many people say that can't wait to retire to get away from their employer. Retirement is definitely something to look forward to, but many seem to be looking at is a way to finally stop working for <fill in the blank>. They aren't necessarily looking it as the end of one chapter of their lives but simply as an end to 'suffering'. In other words, they are not happy. The reasons are obviously different and their unhappiness may have some validity to it but if you're that unhappy, why are you still working there?
My employer is not perfect, but who is? There are definitely challenges, obstacles, and many things could be different. But overall, I love my job and the people I work with. I don't wake up every morning dreading going to work. Of course there are days I'd rather not go to work but it's not because I hate my job, my co-workers, or my company. I have definitely worked at jobs that the very thought of going there made me physicially and mentally ill. And for that reason, I left those jobs.
Attitude and perspective go a long way into determining whether you are happy. Happiness if often based on what 'happens' to you and how you choose to react to it. Joy comes from something else entirely. 😊 My joy comes from my faith because I KNOW that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. My happiness is my choice. Regardless of how others may see me or what they think, I already know I'm successful.
If you are not happy, you need to take an honest look at yourself and your choices. Leave behind whatever makes you unhappy - jobs, relationships, whatever. If you can't (or don't want to) leave it, re-evaluate the situation and take steps to improve it.
