So many of our 'helping' professions are disempowering - making assumptions about what you want and leading you to an outcome. It's not helpful or healthy in the long term. Client centered services are essential. We work had to make it central to our mission at Elizabeth Morgan House. #traumainformed #selfdetermination
When we say we Walk Beside Women, we are talking about not leading but having them lead. It's why specialty Aboriginal family violence services are so important. Our women are the heart of our community and we respect them as unique knowledge holders with the capacity to self-govern through culture, autonomy, decolonisation and self-determination. Support each other and call out #abuse and #harassment when we see it or experience it; 2. Call on all our allies to stand with us to support women in office and call out all forms of abuse and harassment; 3. Call on all elected officials to uphold the highest standards of conduct, focusing on #respectful debate of the issues and not personal attacks; 4. Call on the relevant authorities to ensure the protection of individuals who speak out against abuse, or who experience abuse, providing them with the necessary support and resources.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to and signed the H.E.R. Halton pledge back in May to end harassment of women in government. We have started a movement -- with the pledge being picked up nationally by the Canadian Association of Feminist Parliamentarians! We are now working on what are our next steps and intend to open up our original H.E.R. pledge and invite any elected officials who want to sign on to reach out to my office. We will keep a rolling update, including on my website. If any elected official hasn't done so and would like to, please let us know and we'll add new names as they come in. I also encourage elected officials to reach out to their own networks of women to include anyone who wishes to participate. Learn more and read a copy of the CAFP pledge here: https://lnkd.in/gda7d5zK

ISRHRA was founded by feminists. it is an LBQ women focused organization which promotes the human rights and SRHR of sexual minorities in Nigeria.
The experiences of Christianna, Rebecca, Mercy, and many other women on this list illustrate the hardships that women face on a daily basis and the depressing nature of living in a culture that uses women as pawns in misogynistic schemes in addition to marginalizing them. Together, let's demand justice, raising our voices to call for reform and a more secure future for all women. #justiceforchristianah#justiceforrebecca#justiceformercy #endfemicide#lbq#isrhra

In the tapestry of history, women have fought tirelessly for their rights and dignity, making significant strides against the odds. Yet, violence against women remains a pervasive barrier to true equality and freedom. As we honor the struggles and triumphs of women throughout history, let's commit to ending violence, ensuring their sacrifices lead to a future where every woman can live without fear. This is our time to write a new chapter in history, one where equality and respect are non-negotiable rights for all. #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #WomensHistory #EqualityForAll #HerStoryOurFuture"

🔴 May 5th marks Red Dress Day, a solemn occasion to honor the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) across Canada. The Red Dress serves as a powerful symbol, giving voice to those who have been silenced. While this day shouldn't have to exist, the reality is stark: Indigenous women are 5x more likely to be murdered than non-Indigenous women. Let's unite our voices and support this crucial movement for justice and remembrance. If you're seeking to learn more about the whole story, check out this insightful resource: (https://lnkd.in/g9nps6N7) 💪If you want to help support this initiative, consider learning about Native Women's Association of Canada’s Safe Passage (https://safe-passage.ca/) #RedDressDay #MMIWG

Independence comes with a price. Independent India is different towards the rich, the poor; men, women; educated, uneducated; caste and creed; powerful and powerless; politically aligned folks and the ones leading normal life. We often measure the progressive curve of nation based on its economic index. What about the safety index? Wellness index? Happiness index? As we mark yet another “independence day”, the parade with pomp and show in Delhi to mark 78 years of freedom seems rather pointless admist the one that’s ongoing in Kolkata. Pick up the paper, and the front page will tell you the major gripping stories. But there are equally pressing issues hidden in the small columns that weigh a lot to inform you about what a nation is upto. Years later after Nirbhaya Case, the horror levels intensified, the audacity of the perpetrators at a high, and the justice system - the same. As the march is on, what can the Indian Justice System do differently this time?
Rimjhim Sinha, who took the initiative of ‘Reclaim the Night’, described the event as a new freedom struggle for women, symbolised by a viral poster of a red hand holding a crescent moon. https://lnkd.in/gz7eXdF2

Human-centered Leadership Coach | Keynote Speaker | Wellness Consultant Building adult cultures we don't need to heal from | Retaining educators through identity-forward programs
She told me development work could be fun. 👀 I said prove it and she has. When Julie Ordoñez started partnering with The Teaching Well we began a journey of self-exploration and strategic planning. The hustle can sometimes have us forget that we aren't just fundraising to close the gap, to build the reserve, to expand on benefits offerings. We work here and we want to be just as well as we hope to get our clients. We deserve joy and stability. 🗣 Beyond that, our fiscal solvency ensures the often marginalized and unheard BIPOC educators and leaders we serve, have an organization that represents them. Understands them. Heals alongside them. 💡 It's not "we have to" anymore with development work. It's "we get to and we know how to do it authentically." That matters. Would love to hear your feedback, any key takeaways, or portions of the discussion that resonated.
