This latest generation framework has includes lots for housing in addition to specific value lots for building projects across the region and is estimated to be worth around £800m over the next four years. This framework will be used to construct, refurbish and repair public buildings and sees Kier secure a place in the major projects category for the first time joining Andrew Scott, BAM, Bouygues, Morgan Sindall and Willmott Dixon which have renewed their places. Glenigan Report: UK Construction Stabilises After Decline June 4, 2024 The latest Glenigan report shows that UK construction performance stabilises after a decline. Key findings for the three months ending in May 2024 include: Residential Construction: Private housing fell 23% year-on-year, 15% compared to the previous three months. Social housing rose 1% from the preceding three months but remains 16% lower than in 2023. Non-Residential Construction: Infrastructure decreased 25% in the last three months despite a 6% year-on-year increase. Utilities have plummeted by 50% in the previous three months, 31% down from 2023. Hotel and Leisure rose 39% over the last three months, 23% year-on-year. Education starts up 35% from the previous three months, 14% year-on-year. Regional Highlights Yorkshire & the Humber: +35% over the last three months, +34% year-on-year. Northern Ireland: +22% over the previous three months, +5% year-on-year. With the upcoming General Election, industry behaviour might shift, impacting future performance. Corporate Developments  - Woodside Energy has committed $50 million to support the redevelopment of two key Western Australian institutions: Roebourne District High School and Perth Concert Hall. This investment is part of the company's commitment to the Western Australian government's Resources Community Investment Initiative (RCII).  - NGI Investments received approval to construct a 13-storey timber tower at in Sydney's CBD. This building is set to be Australia's tallest commercial fully massed timber tower. The project emphasizes sustainability by predominantly using mass timber, especially in the upper floors, significantly reducing its carbon footprint compared to traditional concrete structures. Environmental and Regulatory Updates - Homes with big garages could soon become compulsory in South Australia under a new building code that aims to free up street parking and provide more off-street options. Premier Peter Malinauskas today announced the proposed new code, which stipulates that any new home with two or more bedrooms must have at least two off-street parking spaces large enough to accommodate modern SUVs.

📈 Construction Market Stabilising: Glenigan Reports on Project Starts to October The latest Glenigan | Powered by Hubexo Construction Index, covering project starts in the three months to October, signals stabilisation in the market. While overall project starts were flat compared to the previous quarter and 4% down year-on-year, we’re seeing some encouraging sector performance: 🏠 Residential: Up 1% on the previous quarter, though still 8% lower year-on-year. 🏢 Non-Residential: Positive growth with a 2% quarterly rise, and up 1% from last year. 🛣️ Civils: An 8% quarterly drop, but still 1% higher than last year.
