Last call to have your input into our updated DVS Survey. The haulage industry is united in its concerns over timeframes Transport for London (TfL) has set to be fully compliant with the new Progressive Safe System (PSS). We're committed to help implement the new standard and improve safety on our roads. However, there are more than 200,000 trucks in-scope needing upgrades amid concerns about availability, volume, affordability and reliability of equipment. We are urging TfL to extend the implementation grace period for at least 12 months to help operators upgrade. We've launched a second readiness survey and we want you to tell us how ready you are for the 28 October PSS launch. Your response will inform our ongoing conversations with TfL as we strive for the best outcomes for Londoners and our industry. Please complete the survey before the deadline which is next Friday 28 June. https://lnkd.in/eCbgQfxk Please also read the Loughborough University explainer document which is aimed at helping firms understand the new DVS specifications: https://lnkd.in/eDiqDMVg

Fraunhofer IZFP Presents System for Complete Manual Inspection of Railway Wheelsets: Material inspection of wheelsets for rail cars is an integral part of safe rail transportation. In smaller workshops, this inspection is usually carried out manually. Due to the fleeting nature of the data, it has not been possible to store and thus trace the inspection results. The PASAWIS inspection system now represents the next generation of wheelset inspection. How this works, experts from Fraunhofer IZFP will be demonstrating by means of a wheel rim inspection from 24 to 27 September 2024 at the 14th http://dlvr.it/TDTXtX #ndt

In the past few weeks we’ve held a series of meetings with Transport for London (TfL) about our concerns over the Direct Vision Standard (DVS) criteria due to be implemented from October 2024. After months of campaigning we are pleased TfL has listened to the concerns we’ve raised and we welcome the fact that they are actively considering an extension of the grace period and providing clarity to the DVS specifications. Many operators told us they were concerned about the technical specifications as some DVS kits were giving incorrect warnings. We have repeatedly made clear to TfL that the industry is not ready for the implementation in October. Over the past month, we have received feedback from 700 operators in a joint survey and more than 100 from our own RHA webinar. Concerns have also been raised about the availability and affordability of approved equipment and the financial burden on operators. We will continue to urge TfL to provide a grant scheme for operators. We will keep you updated as and when we have more information. We’ve issued a joint statement with other trade bodies.
