Masenn Lewis is the lead welder here at James Engineering. During an exclusive interview with him, he reveals some career-defining advice for all future welders! What makes James Engineering stand out? “I’ve worked for other companies where you don’t have access to be able to talk to engineers, to figure out what problems are, and I think that is a pretty strong suit of this company—that we’re able to do that.” What advice would you offer to people who are just getting into welding? “Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty at all. Welding is an industry where you have to work hard. There’s no reason for you to be watching other people work and always have an open mind when welding. There’s a thousand ways to do it. One time it might work one way, but the next time it might not work. So you need to be able to be pretty open minded to be able to work on stuff.”

10yr+ Experienced AICIP/ AS1796 and 2214/IWS/ISO9001 auditor/NACE1 and 2/trainer assessor/ QAQC MGMT/ welding and fabrication advice.
Welding supervisors, inspectors and welding engineers. I'm interested in your thoughts on Lincoln Hyperfill or similar dual wire welding. I've seen really good PQRs with decent results. But possibly abnormally high in the tensiles, and broken in the HAZ. I haven't seen one with impacts yet though (jury is out). The super high travel speeds make me wonder about repeatability as well. Which high depositon processes can bring out, with defects like LOF. Also in my limited experience I've seen hyperfill Macros with a definite pattern to centreline (think solidification). I understand all the typical "it's fast" commentaries. But time can be saved smarter in fabrication and management times. Interested in your thoughts or experiences.

My life changed dramatically when I decided to abandon my search for a job in the tech field, and bring my tech job to the blue collar industry. This video is about people like me… I remember sending out over 150 applications, and not seeming to get anywhere. I remember having several promising interviews and followup interviews. I remember feeling a little more crushed with every message I would get telling me that I was not selected for the position. I remember making changes to my portfolio, freshening up my skills, and feeling so confident about finally getting that job. I remember meeting some amazing teams that I would have loved to work with. I remember desperation sinking in, and applying for jobs I was overqualified for. I remember wondering if I had gone into the right field. I was not being overly picky about the jobs or companies I applied for. I was not sending the same cover letter to every company. I was not seeking roles for which I was not qualified. I felt reasonably confident about every application. While I learned a lot from the experience, I never landed a job this way. And as far as I can tell, my experience is not unique to me. I have many friends, family members and former collegues that have been through this as well. But why is this so common? Why is it the standard to compete for all the same jobs, and for employers to have to sort through hundreds of applications? I’ve already talked a bit in the past about how I ended up in the steel industry. To make that long story short, after months and months of a fruitless job search in the tech field, I was finally able to find people who valued my skills in the industrial sector. Now, I am sharing that there are going to be some opportunities for others to come work with us! A lot of the openings are more office centric and will provide a good living with great opportunities for growth and learning! Here are some of the positions: Project Engineer Social Media Associate Office Manager Accounting Associate Production Manager Welders Fabricators CNC Operators Iron Workers The main qualification is what we at Intermark Steel refer to as True Mettle: The determination and reilience to prove oneself without being asked to reach beyond one’s current potential. We are looking for people who want to learn and grow in their job. People who want to find their niche in the most unlikely of places. People who value creating something meaningful. People who like a bit of freedom to work their magic. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, message me!
There is more value in the skilled trades than people want to believe! This week, we learn from one of Utah’s best welders and our own resident Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Vladimir Penovich (Laddy) about the ever growing demand for skilled workers in the steel industry. In addition to assuring quality in our work, Laddy was recently named Utah’s CWI of the year by the American Welding Society. With 32 years of experience in the industry, he has his own thoughts about what makes a good weld, and more importantly, what makes a good welder. If you like our content, you'll love being part of our team! We will soon be hiring for the following positions: Utah: Project Engineer Social Media Associate Office Manager Accounting Associate Welders Fabricators CNC Operators Idaho: Production Manager Welders Fabricators CNC Operators Message us for more info.

QA/QC Manager at PT. Sepuluh Sumber Anugerah with expertise in Welding and Construction Site Inspections.
🔍 Unveiling the World of a Welding Inspector! 🔍 Hello LinkedIn fam! Ever wondered about the dynamic role of a Welding Inspector? Let's break it down into three crucial phases: pre-welding, during welding, and post-welding. 🛠️ Before Welding: As the project kicks off, a Welding Inspector lays the foundation for success. This involves: Material Inspection: Ensuring the materials meet specifications. Welding Procedure Review: Confirming that the welding procedures align with industry standards. Qualification Checks: Verifying the qualifications of the welding personnel. 🔥 During Welding: Here's where the magic happens! A Welding Inspector actively participates in the welding process: Parameter Monitoring: Keeping a keen eye on welding parameters for optimal results. Visual Inspection: Scrutinizing welds in real-time to catch defects early. Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive records of each welding operation. 🧐 After Welding: Post-welding duties are just as critical to ensure lasting quality: Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Conducting inspections like radiography or ultrasonic testing. Visual Examination: A final check to guarantee the welds meet required standards. Documentation and Reporting: Compiling detailed reports for future reference and analysis. So, fellow professionals, what's your go-to approach in ensuring a seamless welding inspection process? Share your insights! 💡👥 #WeldingInspector #QualityAssurance #IndustryInsights #EngagementTime

When I take on a repair job that has already been carried out, I always ask myself: 🤷♂️ What did the welder do?! 🤷♂️ Where were the welding foreman, the supervisor and the quality department?! 🤷♂️ Why didn't management intervene? A repair is always more expensive 💸 than carrying out welding work correctly 💯 from the start. It becomes clear that not only the welders need to be trained to carry out the welding work correctly, but also the entire team involved (foreman, QC team and management). If you want to save money and time while increasing quality and productivity, contact 👉 #CTCweld www.ctcweld.com We view each case individually and confidentially 🤝 #welding #weldinginspector #weldingtraining #weldinginspection #weldingexcellence #qc #qcinspector #qualitycontrol #qualitymanagement #management #productivity #quality #mag #welder #wps
