Eric Luley,
I am a 60% disabled vet. I have never attempted to have my 60% rating increased. every single day my life is effected by my disability. I have been told by numerous VA Healthcare workers that I should be at 100%. I have spent the last seven years not wanting to bother with attempting a reevaluation, because I feel that others are in greater need of the appointments and effort.
Please remember that the military is specifically marketed as a job/career to people who tend to believe that they owe a debt to society, or at least believe that something greater than themselves exists.
The amount of money and time used by the VBA in an effort to prevent fraud is greater than any other government entity. Because of the distribution of budgets, it cannot even be tracked.
While there may be dishonest advocates and veterans, I believe that the greater problem is veterans and their survivors not wanting to bother with asking, or demanding their rightful benefits.
It is important to remember that the military is a part of the government, and it employs service members. The government provides all other employees with workplace protections, and requires all private sector employers to provide workplace protections. Workers Compensation laws & regulations exist to assist injured workers and their survivors in getting made whole.
The VA is basically 'workers compensation' for service members. It is not charity, or a low income program. We as the citizens of the United States are the employers of the service members, and we have a moral obligation to ensure that anyone injured in our employment is taken care of, as are their survivors.

Honestly guys… This is a little tongue in cheek, but there are “veteran advocates” on this platform that believe a 100% disability should be a personal goal upon your transition.
This may be an unpopular opinion but “100% disabled” should be a fairly difficult standard to attain, for obvious reasons.
I worked with disabled and vulnerable veterans when I first retired, and I definitely saw some stuff that raised my eyebrows.
And to the vets who are doing the right thing, served honorably, and have to deal with long term and lifetime issues, I have nothing but respect and compassion for you. The VA should absolutely take care of you.
Thoughts?

Dont say : "I don't have anything to claim." Or "I don't have a disability."
📣File your VA disability claim!
The point of filing your VA disability claim is to ensure that any conditions, or injuries that you've incurred as a result of your service are documented as "Service-Connected," so that "WHEN" they get worse, as you get older you'll be able to get treatment for these injuries.

Today we honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect us. I made this drawing of one of them - Pat Tillman. Read Pat’s story here - https://lnkd.in/ebM9yYwH
We should today (and everyday) seek to support our Veterans and their families.
Here is a list of a few underutilized benefits. Thank you to Richard Bergeron, CFP®, ChFC® for providing some of these important resources.
Please share any ones I missed in the comments!
🇺🇸Military discounts
There are military service discounts of 10% or more and yet many folks are not aware
Veteran.com has a list of many of them
🇺🇸There are many benefits to getting assessed for a service related disability of some nature
In many cases, a disability determination (of 10% or more) can open the door to many benefits like the waiver of the ‘funding fee’ when applying for a VA loan.
🇺🇸Veterans with a disability rating of 70% or more may be entitled to fully covered nursing home care.
🇺🇸Estate planning!
Military officers (known as Judge Advocates) may assist soldiers on base with preparation of estate planning documents.
Filing a VA disability claim can be confusing, but understanding the different types of claims can make it easier. Here’s a quick rundown:
Standard Disability Claim: The VA handles most of the work for you, like gathering your records. It’s the traditional approach but might take more time.
Fully Developed Disability Claim: You take charge of collecting and submitting all necessary evidence. This method often speeds up the review process and could get you your benefits faster.
Curious about which process might be best for you? Want to know what documentation you need for a Fully Developed Claim? Our blog breaks it down and helps you decide. Don’t miss out—click here to learn more 👇
