DLR F6 CFD simulation at zero AoA. SST turbuelnce model is used with density based solver. Solution steering along with FMG initilization is used to accelerate convergence. Yplus is below 60, and it varies from 0.13 to 52. Since there is no seperation, therefore this yplus range is good for getting accurate lift coefficient.

Excited to be working on high-speed small craft propelled by waterjets! 🚤💨 Waterjet propulsion presents unique challenges, especially given the relatively limited literature compared to traditional propellers. Using the multiphase CFD solver CFDShip-Iowa V5.5, we're accurately modeling the free-surface interface at high speeds (Fr=2.0, as shown in the attached video). Our current model is based on a 12.88m GPPH craft, with a body-force model simulating the pump action. Next steps? Implementing nozzle steering capabilities and running maneuvering simulations to compare the craft performance with outboard propellers. 🌊 #CFD #Waterjets #NavalEngineering #Innovation

Thrust vectoring is the technical ability of an aircraft in which the vectored thrust force is used to manipulate the force and moments for efficient control and increased maneuverability. In fluidic thrust vectoring a secondary fluid flow is used to manipulate the primary flow. By injecting the secondary fluid into the CD nozzle’s supersonic section, forming oblique shock and deflect the flow for thrust vectoring. Simulation is performed at different NPRs and SPRs.
