For Wirra Wirra Vineyards it's terrific that our wines will be available for Chinese wine lovers again. China also joins the USA, UK, Canada, Malaysia, Korea and EU as major markets for us, along with nemerous smaller but valued markets. Having a diverse market mix means that if some are down others are up, providing great resiliance and economic sustainability. Galina Niforou, Wine MBA In the 1980s, socialist Bulgaria performed a wine feat and became the fourth largest exporter of wine in the world and the fifth largest importer in the ultra-competitive British market. At its peak, exports reached 300 million liters. This interesting story ends with the collapse of the old Bulgarian wine sector, a collapse in quality and exports. Today, Bulgaria has hundreds of new and modern wineries that produce better quality wines than ever before. But despite this, production volumes are constantly decreasing, and exports are at an absolute minimum of only 16 million liters in 2023. This event saw participation from over 14,000 trade visitors across 60 countries, providing a platform for exhibitors worldwide to showcase their brands. The Australian Wine Pavilion has become a key feature at this event, allowing producers to connect with influential buyers, importers, distributors, and sommeliers globally. 🍇 Growing Opportunities for Australian Wines in Asia Paul Turale, Wine Australia’s General Manager of Marketing, emphasised the importance of in-person connections for the wine sector. He noted the strong interest from the trade in the diversity and quality of Australian wines during the three-day event, highlighting the optimism surrounding opportunities in Asian markets. The new Australian Wine national branding, which embodies the adventure and diversity of Australian winemaking, was also unveiled, adding a fresh appeal to the pavilion's presentations. 🌟 Positive Feedback from Exhibitors Exhibitors like Kim Chalmers from Chalmers Wines, Paul McArdle from Small Wonder and Wayfinder, Bruce Tyrrell from Tyrrell’s Wines, and Lyndall Rowe from Riverland Wine shared their positive experiences at Vinexpo Asia. They reported high interest and engagement from visitors, particularly from mainland China, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan. Bounce has ranked Moldova second for their Best places to visit for wine connoisseurs (yay) Though it may not be the first country that springs to mind when considering wine tourism, the Eastern European country of Moldova is a hidden gem with a rich winemaking history that stretches back over 5,000 years. Moldova’s vineyards cover 122-kilo hectares, which works out as 3.6% of this small country’s area, more than any other on this list. The Codru region, located in the central part of the country, is one of Moldova’s most important and historically significant wine-producing areas. There are also 21 wine tours and tastings per million people, taking in the country’s extensive network of underground wine cellars, the most famous of which is the Mileștii Mici - Guinness Book Record holder.
