ATTENTION THERAPISTS AND COUNSELORS PRACTICING IN THE OUTPATIENT LEVEL OF CARE: I am conducting research for a Doctorate of Education degree at Liberty University to better understand best practices for continuing education relating to Trauma Work. The purpose of my research is to describe the experiences of trainees in applying the skills they learned during trauma-focused continuing education when practicing in the outpatient setting. To participate, you must be 18 years of age or older, an outpatient counselor/therapist with at least two years’ experience in an outpatient setting post-Master’s degree, and able to accept third party reimbursement from insurance companies or medical assistance. Additionally, a participant must have taken at least one trauma-focused training, but does not consider themselves to be able to process trauma with clients. You may be licensed or unlicensed to participate. Participants will be asked to take part in a one-on-one, video-recorded interview, which should take about 90 minutes to complete. Additionally, participants will be asked to share any documents from their training experience (PowerPoint Slides, brochures, etc.) if they are available (about 10 minutes time), and will be invited to review the transcript of their interview in order to provide feedback and clarify information (30 minutes).
