Scuba diving requires teamwork. One of the first and most important rules you learn is to always have a buddy. If something goes wrong your buddy is there to help, leveraging multiple techniques to make sure you can ascend safely. In Bonaire, the location of my recent vacation, your buddy serves an additional, but no less important role. Bonaire is renowned for its shore diving where you can literally drive up to a site, gear up, and walk in. Easy right? Well not always. These are not sand entries, they are laden with rocks, and sea urchins, and can be wavy at times. All of these make it difficult for those of us with questionable balance. Your buddy can be an important counter weight helping you avoid a slip and the inevitable scrapes or possible broken ankle. And when you fall (as we assuredly did) your buddy may just fall with you in solidarity (or rather due to gravity), but you fall together! Teamwork at work is just as important. When there are difficult tasks at hand, lending some counter-weight to your partner can help everyone succeed. I call that a win-win. Read more about other things I learned in Bonaire. https://lnkd.in/gJuD347a #teamwork #coachingbytoby

Today, let's talk about how long your diving mask can last and how to store it? ◆ How long can a diving mask be used? A good quality mask will last a long time as long as you care for it. A mask made with high grade silicone and tempered safety glass will last 10-20+ years also depending on how often it is used and how well it is cared for. ◆ How to store diving mask? You should rinse your mask with fresh water after every use and allow to air dry. Every few uses wash with a mild soap, warm water and a soft cloth or brush. Store your mask in a cool, dry place preferably in a mask case. Don't leave your mask in the sun. The silicone strap and skirt can seem an attractive chew toy to animals so keep it away from animals. Share your diving mask usage experience. What features do you value most when choosing a diving mask? We welcome you to share your diving stories and equipment choices here. Let's promote the advancement of diving equipment together and enjoy a safer and more enjoyable diving experience.#Divingmask #SnorkelingMask #diving #scuba #scubagirl #scubadiverslife #scubapro #scubalife #scubadiving #scubadive #divingknife #ocean #sea #fish #oceanhunter #spearfishing #freediving #divtop #watersports #DivingGear #SerratedKnife #DeepSeaExploration #SafetyFirst #Diving #Scuba #ScubaDiving #Freediving #DivingTrip #DivingLife #DivingDeep

Changing Lives - (Healing through Scuba Diving) Full Video: https://lnkd.in/ecyqXz6E I posted a few pictures a few weeks ago when I went Adapted Scuba Diving with Thresher Aquatics. Many of you have seen my shark diving video, but I want to assure you that those that don't feel like diving with sharks - Thresher has incredible spots all around South Florida to see fish, reefs, racks, and so much more. I'm always completely fascinated by the behind-the-scenes of how one in a wheelchair gets a wetsuit on, gets off the boat into the water, or gets into the water from the beach, etc. I like to know what I'm getting into and have a plan. So, I made a video (Teaser below) - full video above on YouTube channel. For me, the water is one of the most healing places. For some it may be mountain biking or adaptive kayaking, choose your outdoor bliss as it may. For those interested in adaptive scuba diving, I couldn't recommend Thresher Aquatics more highly. The team is professional, trained in diving with folks with disabilities, funny as heck, it really is a second family of mine now. My mental health is so sacred and I worked incredibly long hours and sometimes seven days a week. I save up several times a year to go on wacky outdoor adventures because that is my happy place and I hold onto those moments when I don't feel like the day will not end and I am in front of the screen for 12 hours straight (today will be one of those days). It keeps me motivated, continues to give me energetic fuel to push forward in my daily life & advocacy efforts. I hope this inspires and motivates a few reading this to go out and try something with scuba diving if it is your jam or if you have a loved one who may be interested. 😊 #keepmovingforward #keynotespeaker #keynote #scubadiving #scubalife #ScubaLove #nonprofitsupport #nonprofitfundraising #perspectiveiseverything #qualityoflife #youcandohardthings #DeterminedToSucceed #livemybestlife #wheelchairlife #wheelchairgirl #wheelchairlife #tedxspeaker #disabilityawareness #disabilityinclusion

Diving Knife, Why Is It So Important? Diving knives are a crucial piece of diving equipment, often overlooked until they're needed. Here's why they're essential: • Emergency Tool: For cutting through fishing lines, nets, or other entanglements that could pose a serious threat. • • Self-Defense: While rare, a knife can be used as a deterrent against aggressive marine life. • • Task-Specific: For cutting through debris, securing equipment, or other tasks during dives. • • Signaling: Tapping a knife on a tank can be a distress signal. #diving #scuba #scubadiving #divtop #sea #underwater #spearfishing #fishing #ocean #watersports #freediving #oceanic #divingbuoy #divingfloat #divingsurfacemarkerbuoy #divingsausage #scubapro #oceanic #mares #snorkeling #divingsafety #divingEquipment #divingaccessory #divinglanyard #divingknife #divingmask #divingfin #divingwetsuit #divingglove #divinglight #freediving #divingsafetyproduct #DEMAshow #divingaccessory #divingfin #divingmask #watersports #kayak

Never dive without a diving knife and line cutter, as they are crucial safety equipment! Diving knife or line cutter can be used to cut free from entangled lines, fishing nets, or other underwater obstacles that can pose a serious threat to divers. In the rare event of an encounter with a dangerous marine creature, a diving knife can provide a means of self-defense. A line cutter is invaluable for manipulating and cutting lines, such as those used for anchoring or signaling. Both tools can be used to remove debris or obstructions from underwater environments, which can improve visibility and reduce hazards. A diving knife can be used to tap on an underwater object, creating a sound that can attract attention and signal a distress situation. So in emergency, diving knife or line cutter can stay safe during your wonderful dive! #diving #scuba #scubadiving #divtop #sea #underwater #spearfishing #fishing #ocean #watersports #freediving #oceanic #divingbuoy #divingfloat #divingsurfacemarkerbuoy #divingsausage #scubapro #oceanic #mares #snorkeling #divingsafety #divingEquipment #divingaccessory #divinglanyard #divingknife #divingmask #divingfin #divingwetsuit #divingglove #divinglight #freediving #divingsafetyproduct #DEMAshow #divingaccessory #divingfin #divingmask #watersports #kayak

Within the scuba diving community, the importance of safety is paramount and diving coiled lanyards serve an important purpose. They are the unsung heroes of safety and are an overlooked tool that is critical for keeping gear connected and having equipment easily accessible. In the world of diving, coiled lanyards provide a unique advantage with their design that keeps them spring-loaded. This type of lanyard differs from any traditional lanyard as they are able to extend and retract smoothly which prevents kinks and the lanyard being tangled up. Not tangling is particularly important underwater as range of motion is limited. Coiled lanyards are used by divers to ensure that a variety of accessories - including dive lights, cameras, and slates are not lost during a dive. When an item is attached to the lanyard, the item will always be within reach and losing a valued accessory would be extremely hard to do. Lastly, coiled lanyards can be used to promote organization and make scuba diving operations run more smoothly. A diver would not have to struggle with tangled cords or with misplaced accessories. As a result, a diver's gear could be located quickly and easily making the act of diving safe. Therefore, the coiled lanyard is the unsung hero of safety in the scuba diving community. They protect against loss of gear, create access to equipment, and help to keep a diver organized. Coiled lanyards are a fundamental tool in the scuba diving world that allows a diver to move seamlessly through all conditions the underwater world presents. #spearfishing #underwater #divingmask #divingequipment #divtop #diving #Scuba #freediving #fishing#DiveSafePro #UnderwaterSafety #IntegratedCoilLineSMB #scubadiving #sea #ocean #watersports #freediving #oceanic #divingbuoy #divingfloat #divingsurfacemarkerbuoy #divingsausage #scubapro #oceanic #mares #snorkeling #divingsafety #divingEquipment #divingaccessory #divinglanyard #divingknife #divingmask #divingfin #divingwetsuit #divingglove #divinglight #freediving #divingsafetypr

Watch out when you dive with bull sharks! Since bull sharks often dwell in very shallow waters, are found in many types of habitats, are territorial by nature, and have no tolerance for provocation, they may be more dangerous to humans than any other species of shark. Bull sharks are one of the three shark species (along with the tiger shark and great white shark) most likely to bite humans. For me - even they can bite humans - was this bull shark dive one of my best diving experience ever! There were at least 20 of them swimming around me. This was absolutely amazing! What are the types of surface marker buoys? Permanent Surface Marker Buoy: 1、Surface marker diving buoys (SMB). They are permanently visible on the surface and indicate the position of a group of divers throughout the dive tour. Generally, the Divemaster or group guide is the one who tows the diving marker to keep the boats away. They are usually round or torpedo-shaped scuba diving buoys. Some have the submerged divers signaling flag incorporated. 2、Delayed Surface Marker Buoy Deflatable surface marker diving buoys (DSMB), also known as delayed surface marker buoys, or decompression buoys, are the second type of diving markers. In this case, the divemaster takes them deflated and fills them with air only when the group is about to surface. These dive buoys signal that the group has started to ascend. These dive buoys look like tubes or sausages, are linked to the diver by a reel, and are brightly colored to be seen well into the distance. #SMB #DivingSMB #Freediving #WaterVisibility #BuoySelection #DivingSafety #MemorableDiveExperiences #LinkedInDivingCommunity #DivingBuoys #MarineSafety #DurabilityMatters #InnovationInMarineGear #LinkedInMarineCommunity #SurfaceMarkerBuoy
