At EHR Enhancify, we're big fans of American Medical Association's AMA Update. Very recently, Jesse Ehrenfeld MD MPH shed light on a critical issue affecting the healthcare sector today - the well-being of our physicians in the digital age. With technology at the forefront of enhancing patient care, it's paramount that electronic health records (EHRs) serve as tools of empowerment rather than sources of frustration for our medical professionals. Dr. Ehrenfeld highlighted a stark reality, stating, "People still have PTSD from poorly designed electronic health records that we were forced to use." This sentiment echoes the experiences of many in the field, underscoring the urgent need for systems that cater to the needs of those at the frontline of patient care. He further pointed out, "In many cases, EHRs were developed without the input of frontline clinicians," a practice that must be revisited to foster more effective and user-friendly digital health tools. The integration of AI and automation in streamlining processes such as triaging messages and documentation has shown promising results, saving invaluable time for physicians and enhancing their ability to focus on patient care. However, for these advancements to realize their full potential, a collaborative effort is needed. It involves not only technology developers but also physicians, care teams, administrators, and IT experts working hand in hand. Dr. Ehrenfeld calls for advocacy and regulatory flexibility to ensure that digital health tools, especially those utilizing AI, are developed with direct input from those who will use them most. And we at EHR Enhancify agree! This approach aims at not only minimizing burnout but also at supporting the art and science of medicine for the betterment of public health. As we move forward, it's clear that making technology work for physicians is not just an IT challenge but a collective responsibility. To watch the presentation in full, click below. As cited in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, more than one-third of physicians reported moderatly high or excessive time spent on the EHR at home (aka pajama-time). Physicians report spending nearly 50% of their workday on EHR and desk work vs. only 27% on direct patient face time. In this Forbes article, Regard CEO, Eli Ben-Joseph provides insights reflecting the many discussions he and his Co-Founder & COO, Nate Wilson had with physicians and health system leadership, which contributed to the earliest foundational days of developing Regard's novel A.I. tech. Regard is embedded in the patient charts within Epic and Cerner Corporation - so clinicians can still leverage their unique EHR workflow more efficiently with a super-powered version of each EHR. Eli Ben-Joseph - "When physicians feel that their judgment is supported by a digital partner in clinical decision-making, they can practice medicine more effectively. Instead of feeling overwhelmed with excessive data and insufficient time, they're more likely to feel empowered to deliver the best care."

One of our physician customers was quoted: “Oracle Clinical Digital Assistant is the most important EHR technology update that I am going to see in my career." 😮 The Oracle Clinical Digital Assistant is now generally available in the USA - and the countdown is on for its availability in Canada this year. Early adopters report “game-changing” results, saving 20-40% in documentation time. Oracle Health's solution is EHR-agnostic, but for those customers who have implemented our EHR solution, the Clinical Digital Assistant is integrated directly which means no clicks, no drop-downs and no scrolling! #ditchtheclicks #ambientlistening #genai #clinicaldigitalassistant
