How can the power of community be used to assess the complexities of clinical reasoning? Hear from members of the Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) for Clinical Reasoning Creative Community, including David Gordon, MD, Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Duke University School of Medicine, as they share insights and discuss how this work has impacted their own approach to teaching and assessment.
Over the past two years, the NBME Creative Community has explored the use of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) to better assess the learner’s process of clinical reasoning. I LOVE it when we get to this topic with our PREP registrar cohort each year! A client study (Cheng, 2008) found that “relationships” was the third most troubling problem reported as their reason for attending individual treatment and Nakash et al. (2018) found that marital problems were mentioned specifically by 19.6% of clients and 21.4% of therapists as the main problem. But how much do you know about how to help? Feel free to join me as a one-off for this topic. It will not teach you how to become a relationship therapist, but it is designed for individual therapists to help them understand the dynamics at play in relationships, when your clients may benefit from relationship work, how to support them without causing harm and how to work well alongside their relationship therapist.
Next Wednesday 28st August 2024 9am-10:30am AEST Dr Rebecca Frost will be presenting the topic: Relationship therapy for the individual therapist. Join her to learn when to refer clients to relationship therapy versus providing individual treatment, understand the relationship system to avoid relational harm, and collaborate effectively with relationship therapists while maintaining ethical standards. https://loom.ly/YMmcC64 To get access to this topic plus our complete CPD program for the clinical registrar program, subscribe today: https://loom.ly/Nii2R4M
