🩶 This is the first wedding ring I’ve made in Palladium! I had to do a bit of research into good value, durable white metals and decided this was the best option for my customer. I thought I’d share some of the main points with you: *Palladium is a beautiful white metal, a ‘sister metal’ of platinum.  *It is relatively unknown to people despite having been first identified in the mid 1500s.  *Recently very popular with jewellery designers and makers because of its light bright colour, ability to be shaped and its favourable pricing compared to platinum.  *Perfect setting for gemstones as it reflects the light back into the stones. *Naturally white and so doesn’t require rhodium plating and re-plating as white gold does to maintain its appearance.  *Doesn’t tarnish or lose whiteness when worn.  *It looks very similar to platinum and wears very similarly also - it can be cleaned and repolished easily.  *In jewellery, palladium has a very high purity level - 95% palladium is alloyed with a small amount of other metals, usually ruthenium and iridium (also platinum group metals) to make it harder and more durable. *Palladium weighs around the same as 9 or 14 ct white gold and so it is comfortable to wear. I would definitely work with it again…the polished finish is amazing, it’s not too heavy, it’s hard-wearing and price-wise, a very good alternative to platinum. Mystery or #invisiblesetting is a #jewelry -making technique that creates the illusion that #gemstones are floating in mid-air, with no metal prongs or bezels to hold them in place. This is achieved by carving grooves into the sides of the gemstones and sliding them onto a series of rails made of precious metal. That’s not to say that its (relative) ubiquity diminishes its value in any way. A rainbow watch is undeniably the Marmite of the watch industry. Love it or hate it, there’s no denying several facts: For one, it takes a high level of gem-setting skills to source for stones of similar hues and gradients, and to set them together in a pattern that’s not overtly obnoxious.
