According to the number of circuit layers and structural classification, the main classifications of PCB are: single-sided board, double-sided board, and multi-layer board.   1. Single-sided board On the most basic PCB, electronic components are concentrated on one side, and wires are concentrated on the other side. Because wire only appears on one side, so we just claim that this PCB is called single-sided board. Because the single-sided board has many strict restrictions on the design of the circuit, mainly: the wiring cannot cross but must go around a separate path, so only the early circuits use this type of board, which is rarely seen now.   2. Double-Sided Boards This type of board has wiring on both sides. However, to use the wires on both sides, there must be a proper circuit connection between the two sides. This bridge between circuits is called a via. The guide hole is a small hole filled or coated with metal on the PCB, which can be connected to the wires on both sides. Because the area of the double-sided panel is twice as large as that of the single-sided panel, and because the wiring can be interlaced with each other, it is more suitable for use in more complex circuits than the single-sided panel.   3. Multi-Layer Boards In order to increase the area that can be wired, more single or double-sided wiring boards are used in multilayer boards. A printed circuit board with four or more layers of conductive patterns, the inner layer is made of conductive patterns and insulating adhesive sheets laminated and pressed, and the outer layer is copper foil, which is pressed into a whole. In order to lead out the printed wires sandwiched in the middle of the insulating substrate, the holes (ie, guide holes) for mounting components on the multilayer board need to be processed with metallized holes to connect them to the printed wires sandwiched in the insulating substrate. The production of conductive patterns on multilayer boards is mainly based on photosensitive methods. These materials play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, durability and flexibility of rigid-flex boards.  The primary material used in rigid-flex PCB manufacturing is a substrate consisting of one or more layers of flexible polyimide. This material allows for the flexibility and bending capabilities these panels require. Polyimide ensures that rigid-flex PCBs can be physically manipulated without losing their functionality.  In addition to flexible substrates, the rigid portion of these boards includes materials such as FR4 (a flame-retardant epoxy laminate) or similar rigid laminates. These rigid areas provide support and stability to components that require a solid foundation.  For conductive traces and component connections, manufacturers use copper as the conductive material.
