The time has come for humanoid robots to enter industrial production lines and learn how to assist humans by undertaking repetitive, tedious and potentially dangerous tasks for them. Walker S is the first bipedal humanoid robot to complete the automation of a human workstation on a mobile assembly line of an EV manufacturing facility. The workstation mainly involves quality inspection of an EV, where different parts of the vehicle, such as door locks and light covers, need to be visually inspected, but also the seat belt's condition needs to be manually checked by controlled elongation. In order to achieve that, a variety of innovative technologies were used, including 3D navigation and obstacle avoidance, multimodal sensor perception, 3D object-based localization, fast adaption to mobile production line, 6D pose recognition, high precision manipulation and others. This application also allows us to collect a variety of data from actual application scenarios and rapidly iterate to grow Walker S capabilities so that we can deploy the robot on a long-term basis and automate workstations with different needs as well. #humanoid #robot #walkerS #industrial #automation #evmanufacturing #UBTECH
