While the EPA’s new NESHAP regulations for Ethylene Oxide (EtO) emissions are being finalized, companies like LESNI are already prepared. They’ve been working with Picarro to prove the Destruction Efficiency (DE) of their EtO Catalytic Abatement Plants (CAPs). The LESNI systems have long been able to abate EtO well beyond 99.9% but few monitoring technologies have had the sensitivity to prove this. The implications are significant. Facilities working with DE emission factors have likely been overstating their true emissions. By installing Picarro’s continuous emissions monitoring system (CEMS) for ETO along with LESNI’s CAP at a sterilization facility, abatement performance was validated in real time.
