According to KPMG US, 81% of leaders in the life sciences sector would like to see a more ‘aggressive adoption’ of artificial intelligence technology in the industry. This is hardly surprising considering how groundbreaking some of the recent AI-powered discoveries are. Among others, scientists and researchers can now use AI for: ➡️ Faster drug research ➡️ Medical trial matching ➡️ Speeding up drug development ➡️ Offering personalized healthcare ➡️ Helping with regulatory drug compliance. Innovations such as bionic limbs are no longer futuristic visions. Just recently, a patient with a below-the-elbow amputation began using an AI-powered bionic hand that closely resembles a human hand. Naturally, not every use case will be as technologically advanced. Life science organizations can also use it for operational tasks, better data extraction, enhanced data privacy and security, and communication with patients via custom chatbots. While AI holds tremendous potential, in a field like life sciences, its further growth will depend on the development of the right regulations to limit the risk of negative implications. 📎 Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/d9yGXCg7 💬 We want to hear from you! AI has the potential to transform healthcare, promising innovation and efficiency. However, it could also reproduce & exacerbate existing problems. What are the different types of AI? John Nelson of Georgia Institute of Technology and Alexander Stevens of University of California begin by explaining the difference between the two big categories of #AI, rule-based systems and machine-learning systems. AI can collect & analyse vast amounts of biomedical data. This accelerates insights into diseases, aiding the development of new treatments. AI has also helped scientists repurpose existing drugs and discover new ones. There are 4 important downsides of AI in healthcare - errors, misinformation, exploitation, and inequity. Delve into these concerns and find out how they could impact the future of healthcare.
