It's not just the children who benefit from Chapter One UK's online reading volunteers programme. Amanda Blevins at Fidelity International explains how the experience has improved her skills, "Professionally, it has enhanced my communication skills and empathy towards others. It has helped me lead with more confidence. No matter how stressed I am during my working day, Jullya manages to distract me in a good way, and I will often find solutions to things I was struggling with after our reading session." “Chapter One is a great opportunity to actively contribute to a child's learning on a programme that isn't just for one day.” Amanda Blevins and Carleene Watt are two of the 39 volunteers at our Silver Partner Fidelity International who collectively provided 356 hours of one-to-one reading support to Chapter One children this school year. Find out what Amanda and Carleene have to say about their experience of volunteering with Chapter One: https://lnkd.in/e9Vmwz-d Amanda and fellow Fidelity International volunteers Lesley Davidson and Rebecca Whentringhame recently got to meet their pupils at an end-of-year reading celebration at Earlsmead Primary School in Haringey, London. There were lots of smiling faces! 😁 Sue White Andrea Marriott CMgr MCMI #ChapterOne #itallstartswithliteracy #employeewellbeing #socialvalue #socialimpact #socialmobility #literacy #corporatepartnerships #corporatevolunteering

Yesterday I partaked as a speaker and as one of the guests of honour for an online event held by Voices Online (which has over 1.3 Million community members). My talk was about how we promote peace in an increasingly volatile yet interconnected world. Some of the points I raised: 1. We need to move beyond tolerance to a place of acceptance and appreciation of difference 2. We can learn alot from others as long as we take a position of humility, respect and intent to learn. 3. Everyone can be our teacher in life not just educationalists.

Struggling to manager volunteers effectively? Issues with low sign-up rates? Wasting time manually calculating state by state monetary value of hours for year end reports? Trouble with converting volunteers into meaningful donors? Lacking program insights? If this sounds like you, I’d welcome you to learn more about Golden, and how we’re transforming the way nonprofits manage their programs, and volunteers. Lets chat, and get you set up for success in 2025! https://lnkd.in/eB4X2dJk
What if you could engage 1,100 new volunteers in just six months? 🤯 Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, Inc., accomplished this and more when they switched to Golden! Watch the full story and learn how Baptist Children's Home was able to move away from paper waivers and sign-up sheets to engaging new volunteers to help their ministry. Reunification month gets lost in the other celebratory months because it’s viewed as the expectation. It’s not considered an act of “going above and beyond.” Reunification month is the most important month. Parents facing themselves, having uncomfortable conversations and experiences, accepting responsibility for their actions, and overcoming adversity. Their children working through circumstances outside of their control, building stronger bonds with their families to understand grace, love and compassion. This doesn’t get recognition because what’s the picture to be posted on social media? What do you say about these folks who did this work? Our system doesn’t recognize them as “heroes” because it’s what we are supposed to do. WV subsides adoptions from foster care a great deal. Minimum $700 per month until the child turns 18 plus a Medicaid card. When a child is reunified, they don’t get any support. The case is closed. They get Medicaid if the qualify for Medicaid. Milestones should be celebrated not shamed. I’m glad to see more recognition for reunification.
June is Reunification Month! We are grateful for all of the volunteers that help create positive connections that help children reunify with their families. We recognize that not all families are the same and we strive to help them grow together.

The Lift with Boys Town initiative is important in addressing critical issues in education such as student absenteeism, disruptive behavior, and lack of resources. Let's connect today to discuss how we can partner together to Lift your organization to new heights!
Our mission began over a century ago when orphaned, abandoned and abused children were welcomed into a home with generous amounts of love, attention, patience and understanding. Through the decades, Boys Town grew and evolved to meet the ever-changing needs of America’s youth and families. Lift with Boys Town is an extension of our organization's philosophy of care.
