Traditional, task-based marketing plans need a major makeover. The old way frames marketing like a laundry list of expenses, and simply doesn’t do a good enough job at conveying to the C-suite how it can impact the bottom line. In a recent piece for Think with Google, Jim Lecinski, professor at Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management’s explores how a move to outcome-based planning can help shift the perspective to highlight how marketing can be a driver of business growth. He suggests aligning your marketing initiatives to the goals you want to reach, like growing revenue by X or acquiring Y new customers, and bringing clear mROI projections to the table that predict how the proposed budget will help get you there.
