⚾ Mets Victory + Philly's Big Win! 🌳 As a Flushing native & lifelong Mets fan, I'm still buzzing from our incredible win over the Phillies! The rally towels were flying, Lindor was crushing it, and NYC was electric. But while the 7 Line Army is celebrating, let's take a moment to tip our caps to another win happening in Philadelphia—this time (thankfully), off the field. 🏙️ Philly's Clean and Green Initiative is turning vacant lots into vibrant spaces, proving that when a city invests in its neighborhoods, it gets way more than just good looks. From reducing crime to improving mental health, this initiative is a game-changer. So, while the Mets advance, Philly's public policy deserves its own round of applause. 👏 It's proof that transforming communities is a team effort, whether on the diamond or in our cities. As a #NYC + #downtown resident these days, I see the #Sept11anniversary as part of my city & community's incredibly sobering and poignant history and the critically essential #remembrancerituals that happen, as the picture I took yesterday of my local fire unit prep for a collective meal this morning shows. As a practitioner-scholar in the arts, design, and management, the anniversary brings front and center the work of Karl Weick and one of his classic papers from 2005 "Organizing and the Failures of Imagination." Weick cites the 9/11 report and a far-reaching conclusion it makes: "Imagination is not a gift usually associated with bureaucracies … It is therefore crucial to find a way of routinizing, even bureaucratizing the exercise of imagination." That report and Weick’s #sensemakingtheory provides a framework for understanding the challenges faced by the intelligence community before and after 9/11. In hindsight, we can recognize the role of #cognitivebiases and #organizationalculture in shaping how information is processed, we can point to #culturalnorms that may have led to a narrow focus on more traditional threats, thereby contributing to the #failureofimagination we saw. The piece is always a reminder for me of the power of our #creativefields and our ability to go to that #abductivereasoning that is so needed in times of complexity and uncertainty as the ones we live in now. Here's to #honoring the #memory of all of those who served #Sept11 and were touched by losses that terrible day in our beautiful city. 🏙️ #remembrance #imagination

Recently, I came across an interesting article. It breaks down the cities with the lowest cost of living. Guess what city was on that list? If you guessed Oklahoma City, where I live and where one of HoganTaylor’s offices is, then you would be right. Tulsa, another home to HoganTaylor, also appeared on the same list. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I absolutely love living and working in OKC. Oftentimes, however, when I talk to people and tell them where I live, they think that OKC is a small town in the middle of nowhere with just farmland. But the truth is, OKC is a growing city with so many things to do and lots of opportunities. (Drake even made a stop on tour here last month!) OKC is the 45th largest market and has the 4th lowest cost of living. Similarly, Tulsa is the 61st largest market and has the 2nd lowest cost of living. These two cities are great places to live, have thriving communities, and are very affordable. Is your city on the list?
