Ivor King are no strangers to working next to or even in water, in places that often prove to be some of the most challenging to reach when using heavy plant and equipment. That’s when we deploy our Modular Floating Pontoons - ideal when working on rivers, canals, marinas, wharfs, quays and harbours to provide a safe working platform from which to perform piling installations. The pontoons are road transportable, capable of supporting a uniformly distributed load of 20kN/m² per float, and are assembled using a close-coupling system to create almost any configuration. ‘Spud legs’ are forced downwards into the bed of the waterway to provide anchorage and prevent drifting of the floating work platforms. This versatile modular system is capable of carrying heavy plant such as excavators, MEWPS and piling rigs when used in conjunction with Timber Mats. Channel dredging in North Carolina and reusing the excavated dredge material (Beneficial Use): In addition to the opening of the channel, dredge sand was reused to substantially renourish the area of beach directly in front of the Cape Lookout. The dredged sand were emplaced to create a wide and deep beachfront. Additional dredge sand has been emplaced on Sandbag Island (also known as, “bird island”) just southeast of Harkers Island. https://lnkd.in/eTdw-YMA

Landslips - Romney Marsh Two of our insurer clients have called on Optera to assist with a large slip to the rear of separate properties in Romney Marsh.   Romney, famed for its flat, featureless landscape is framed to the East by Rye with the only Incline within miles.   During the ongoing inclement weather, a large landslip occurred which affected various properties within the road. Landslips vary in complexity and typical considerations are height, inclination, geology, and logistics.    This job has everything!   It’s an incredibly steep slope which is very difficult to access but using a large structural scaffold ramp to get over the properties, we have this week completed the initial vegetation clearance and removal of spoil which accumulated against the houses and even burst through the kitchen door!    Over the next few weeks we will undertake site investigations and a scheme for permanent reinstatement will be prepared for our clients to consider we will hopefully provide further updates as this project develops. #landslip #stabilisation  #construction #siteinvestigations #claimsmanagement #insuranceclaims

This popular case study was based on a deep water berth, which was 8.5m deep and 150m long. The berth is used by specialised support #vessels before being fitted out for #offshore work such as surveying and #trenching. SF Marina is playing an important role in the Femern Link tunnel development by supplying floating concrete dock pontoons for the project’s tugboat pier. The 215m pier is comprised of ten 20m x 10m SF1850 floating concrete pontoons and one 15m-long centre section with a 28° end. This allows the array to gently angle away from the stone breakwater for double-sided docking. Heavy-duty SF1850 series pontoons are designed to handle the rigors of commercial use. Virtually unsinkable, they offer approximately 970kg/m2 of buoyancy yet are extremely stable. Strong and buoyant SF Marina W400 Connectors deliver two 105 tonnes per joint of breaking strength. Internal corner pile guides allow the pier to maintain its 1m freeboard while 21 aluminum bull bollards provide ample tie up locations. Eight rescue ladders and three ring buoy/fire extinguisher pedestals help ensure worker safety. The concrete pontoons were made at SF Marina’s Wallhamn, Sweden facility and transported to the site by truck. The company has six precast manufacturing locations across the globe and a robust delivery network to keep construction schedules on time and logistics expenses low. Strengthening links between Scandinavia and Central Europe, the Femern Link tunnel is Denmark’s largest infrastructure project. It’s part of a growing green traffic corridor throughout Europe. The 11-mile tunnel will connect the Danish island of Lolland with the German island of Fehmarn, reducing travel time from 45 minutes by ferry to a mere ten minutes and seven by electric rail. Back in April, a fatal accident at the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel site cast a shadow over the project. But the project is on track.
