Whether you’re an existing Declarant Board of Directors member or your company is soon to take on the role of Board of Directors for a new residential development, here are some essential tips for the Declarant Board:
Tip #5 Development vs. Community
As a Board member, promoting a culture of volunteerism within your community is an important part of your role. This helps to strengthen the connections between neighbors. One way to achieve this is by identifying and rewarding great volunteers, nurturing their growth, and helping them become community leaders.
Committees play a key role in this process. There are two main types of committees: standing committees, which are ongoing, and special committees, which are temporary and disband once their objectives are met. When creating committees, it's important to adhere to the guidelines and rules outlined in your governing documents. Remember that committees report to the Board and should provide their findings and recommendations in writing.
For further details on committee formation and management, refer to your governing documents or seek assistance from your property management company.
