https://lnkd.in/eT-YCNCm If Wales' powers that be can muster up the energy to support this, it would be a game changer for Mid Wales and access to the south. Right now, to get to Cardiff by train requires a 6 plus hour journey with a detour via Birmingham at times, or we have to get to Carmarthen some other way (which can take 1.5 hours by car) park up and then catch the train. I'd suggest, why spend £2b, when spending £3b might mean it could also be electrified, perhaps using some of the renewable energy we produce in Wales to offset the operating cost. A great project. About time. Natural gas / renewable natural gas is a critical and affordable cornerstone of BC's economy. If the restrictions to limit natural gas usage moves forward, both residents and businesses will be forced to absorb higher energy costs, diminishing the province's competitiveness.

In the wake of these large generator retirements, MISO should create smaller and more electrically meaningful Local Resource Zones with more geographically targeted Local Clearing Requirements that will ensure replacement and other new supply resources are more optimally located. Then MISO could let wholesale capacity (and energy) market competition ensure resource adequacy instead of resorting to collaboration and coordination (and thus discrimination) for resource expansion.

One of the essential components of the European electricity market turns 10 🎂 A good idea designed by a bunch of Power Exchanges (nowadays, NEMOs), supported by regulators, implemented with the help of TSOs and used by market participants across the EU during the last ten years. For those who are not so familiar with the history of market coupling, I found this 10 year old press release by ACER, which brought to my mind very good memories of such an important year: https://lnkd.in/dDJvtuPU What happened in 2014? After a long process requiring the cooperation of a huge amount of parties, the go-live of the day-ahead market coupling in the so-called North-West Europe region happened on 4th February 2014. As from that date, Spain and Portugal also used the same market coupling platform and contractual procedures. Then, in May 2014 capacity at the French-Spanish border was integrated in the price coupling and, as a result, the day-ahead markets of North-West Europe and South-West Europe became fully coupled. This was the origin of what we know today as “SDAC” (Single Day-Ahead Coupling), which is now enshrined in the European regulations. For those who have been directly involved in the SDAC, I think we must be proud of what was achieved since 2014: the largest electricity market integration in the world.
