I’ve posted a lot about thinking in 3-D and building abstract ideas aided by LEGO®. It’s worth remembering that LEGO is great for building concrete solutions as well. My wife and I each have a phone case with a built-in stand. Unfortunately, her stand broke. Fortunately, my kids are creative problem solvers. With a handful of bricks and the courage to try out and break a few new designs—all while having fun—they were able to make a working phone stand. 🧱 Lego Challenge: A Lesson in Integrity and Perseverance At our recent RKDplaN Day, we kicked things off with a Lego challenge in our designated teams. The goal? To see how we LEtGO of our lEGOs and persevere to improve with each iteration. By the third round, though, enthusiasm had waned, and most of us just wanted to get it done and move on. But it was Isaac, our newest team member who brought us back to the core value we strive for daily: integrity. They reminded us that even in the face of tedium and fatigue, getting things right matters—especially when the task feels repetitive or insignificant. In our work building digital products, this lesson couldn’t be more important. We all know the costs of pushing out sloppy code—there’s always more work in fixing mistakes than in checking things thoroughly before going live.
