Last Sunday, Pine-Richland High School Custodian Joe Strobel became a hero. Mr. Strobel was watching the Steelers game at the Scoreboard Restaurant and Lounge when he saw that a man nearby was choking. Having taken Pine-Richland's classes in first aid and the Heimlich maneuver, Mr. Strobel sprang into action and successfully performed the Heimlich on the man. Volunteer opportunity for Pine-Richland students!

We were so excited to welcome our students back to school last week! It's going to be a fantastic year for our Rams!

Pine-Richland High School business education teacher Courtney Kronk-Love has been recognized as a Distinguished Educator by Next Gen Personal Finance for outstanding commitment to professional development in real-world personal finance topics. To date, Mrs. Kronk-Love has earned nine NGPF certifications, each of which requires 10 hours of live, collaborative coursework on a key personal finance topic and passing a one-hour certification exam. Her certifications include banking and budgeting, behavioral economics, career, credit, insurance, investing, advanced investing, paying for college and taxes. Mrs. Kronk-Love has twice been recognized on the organization’s website for her commitment to education. Congratulations, Mrs. Kronk-Love!

This morning we welcomed back our teachers and staff with our annual kick-off event, starting with a performance from the band and color guard, then our cheerleaders. PREA hosted a food drive benefitting North Hills Community Outreach, USA. Members of the AFJROTC presented colors and choir members performed the national anthem and alma mater. Members of the Class of 2025 were in attendance as we introduced and welcomed our new staff members. Here's to a successful 2024-2025 school year for all!

Yesterday we welcomed over 30 new hires—including teachers, paraprofessionals, a school nurse, librarian, psychologist and counselor—to orientation. Our new team members got to know each other through interactive activities as they were introduced to Pine-Richland School District. Welcome to PR! We can't wait to start the year with you all!

Residents of a village in Ghana recently took to YouTube to thank Pine-Richland High School students and the Rich-Mar Rotary Club for their fundraising efforts. Back in May, members of the Key Club, under the direction of teacher and sponsor Dawn Herbst, helped raise $3,500 through their Walk for Water, an event in which students carried gallon jugs of water for one mile around the Pine-Richland Stadium track. Money raised is being put toward the drilling of a potable water well in Wugladza this month.
