The power of video and flashback
Strategic Leader | Communication Specialist | Brand Expert | Change Agent | Experienced Marketeer | Internal Comms Advocate | Income Generator | Graphic Designer | Capable Fundraiser | Passionate Baker | Active Christian
Some really strong storytelling from charities in video at the moment. This from the Alzheimer's Society is moving, poignant and very true to life. Grab some tissues, settle in and give yourself some quiet time afterwards to absorb "The Long Goodbye". Keep positive people. 🤗 https://lnkd.in/gQXYbEzX #alzheimers #thelonggoodbye

Best-selling author. Working with #Carertrusts & individuals to reduce feelings of #overwhelm and avoid #burnout. I use hands-on treatments & run workshops to promote self-care as a priority and not just a nice to have.
Many organisations providing support (eg Carer Trusts, Dementia, Cancer, parent groups etc.) run weekly or monthly face-to-face events. This is great for their service users who can attend in-person events, but what about those who can't? This is where my online sessions can help. As well as in-person events I also provide online events. I can provide your community group with online workshops as well as individual sessions. My workshops help to reduce feelings of isolation, promote community spirit and provide self-care tools and techniques. My one-to-one sessions provide some well-earned me-time for each person. If you're a member of a group, or you run a group that meets regularly, this could be just what you need for your members who can't get to your face-to-face sessions. Use the link below to find out more. #selfcare #unpaidcarers #communityconnection #communityengagement

🌍🧠 World Alzheimer's Day 2024: Together, We Can Make a Difference🧠🌍 Today, on #WorldAlzheimersDay, we come together to raise awareness, show support, and honor those affected by Alzheimer's and dementia. With millions of people around the world living with this condition, it's a reminder of the importance of early detection, research, and compassionate care. Alzheimer's doesn’t just impact those diagnosed—it touches families, friends, and entire communities. Let’s take this moment to reflect on how we can be more supportive, patient, and understanding towards those facing this challenge. Whether through advocacy, donating to research, or offering time to care for a loved one, every action counts. Together, we can work toward a future where Alzheimer's is better understood, and hopefully one day, a thing of the past. 💜 #AlzheimersAwareness #MemoryMatters #DementiaAwareness #CareandSupport

This September, we celebrate World Alzheimer’s Month which focusses on attitudes toward dementia and seeks to redress stigma and discrimination which still exists around the condition. The monthly focus will highlight the positive steps being undertaken by organisations and governments globally to develop a more dementia friendly society. This is a cause close to our hearts and we were extremely proud to have raised £5,402 for Alzheimer’s Research UK at our Conference in June 2024. Just over a week ago, the new Alzheimer’s drug, lecanemab, was approved for use in Britain. This marks a historic breakthrough as the first drug proven to slow the progression of the disease. The above achievement is however bittersweet, as lecanemab will only be available to those who can afford private care. Our health system must do more to ensure all people with dementia can access life-changing treatments. Alzheimer’s Research UK has called on Health Secretary Wes Streeting to act so no one is left behind. This World Alzheimer’s Month, let’s remember that Alzheimer’s is not just a part of aging but a disease that needs our attention. The global campaign encourages everyone to challenge the stigma surrounding dementia and support those living with the condition. Did you know that Alzheimer’s disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States? Despite these numbers, public understanding of the disease is still limited, leading to delayed diagnoses and inadequate support for those affected. How can you help? Start by educating yourself and others about Alzheimer's and its impact. Check out resources from local Alzheimer’s associations, participate in fundraising activities, or simply share this post to spread awareness. Visit World Alzheimer’s Month https://lnkd.in/eGsXmt4K for more information. Let’s use this month to learn, share, and support. Together, we can change the narrative around Alzheimer’s and dementia. #ABLEChannel #EndTheStigma #AlzheimersAwareness #MemoryMatters
