WHY YOU SHOULD HIRE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER EVEN BEFORE HIRING YOUR BUILDER OR CONTRACTOR? Because a trained pair of eyes will see things that most builders or contractors are guaranteed to miss. See the photos on the comments section. 🤦🏻♀️ I was brought into this project very late and unfortunately, there are a lot of costly mistakes that have been made before my involvement. Now, the builder has to rip off the ceilings and fix all the window treatment pocket sizes. This is a costly mistake that will also delay the project. I wish I had been involved much earlier and caught these mistakes at an earlier stage. When you hire us, with my regular site visits we will address any challenges which might arise during the process, and we’ll ensure builders and contractors execute according to our plan. Please remember, that incredible interior design doesn’t happen by chance. It requires very detailed planning. Let’s discuss your project if you are getting ready to build a custom home or getting ready for a large-scale renovation. Currently, we are booking and kicking off full-service, projects for March 2023 so you can plan now and book your project with us! It all starts with a discovery call. ☎️ How to schedule a discovery call? It’s easy. Just click on the link in the below to schedule a Complimentary Discovery Call with me! 📞Talk to you soon. https://lnkd.in/eNYkMYaS

As a Project Manager, how much money has come out of your contingency budget because of an incorrect furniture item? As a Facility Manager, how many times has your project been delayed due to a furniture mis-specification or mis-sing part? Here's the thing... A technical audit of a FF&E package or your furniture order is one of the most important practices to implement. Its one of the best (and small) investments you can make in any furniture project. This is true whether you are an: interior designer, facility manager, general contractor, or dealer designer. PS In the first 6 months of 2024, our bad-a$$ spec team caught $1.1 million in spec errors through our unique technical QA/QC process. That's more than ONE MILLION DOLLARS! How much $$$ and time can we save you? #kimikodesigns #specification #audit #commercialfurniture #furniturenerds

I had so much fun talking all things interior design vs architecture at Grand Designs Live with the British Institute of Interior Design and a panel of amazing interior designers. The question - Who should I hire for my project? An architect, an interior designer or a TEAM?! As the industry shifts and evolves (which I am completely here for!) the lines can become a little blurred. We delved into all aspects of the project - from obtaining planning permission to hanging curtains - and talked our audience through the roles and responsibilities of different design professionals. We chatted for an hour non-stop but an audience member grabbed me immediately afterwards with the same question.... "The talk was great... but who should I hire first?" I get it. It's confusing. This is the simplest way to guide your decision. "My project requires planning permission, structural changes or will be a new build" = hire an architect and an interior designer. "My project requires interior reconfiguration, technical design such as for the kitchen, bathrooms, joinery details and bespoke elements" = hire an interior architect / interior designer. "My project requires some new soft furnishings, redecoration and restyling" = hire an interior decorator (or an interior designer). The conclusion? You interior designer is probably the most 'fluid' trade on your project. They will talk directly with contractors, suppliers and everybody in between. In most cases - an interior designer will elevate your project and has the technical knowledge and expertise to bridge the gaps. If you were building your dream home... who would you hire first?

Interior Fitout Commercial Manager | MSc Construction Management, Civil Engineer, MBA International Business, Lean Construction, Commercials & Contract Management Expert
Fast Track Construction in Interior Fitout means a Design & Building Contract in Interior Fitout. The commencement of the works and the finalization of the design occur simultaneously. One of the main challenges that persists until the end is that the client expects something extraordinary based on the initial design proposals, which are usually created before the contract is finalized, such as concept design or 3D visuals. However, the budget is insufficient to build the same. To resolve this issue, I propose the following solutions based on my dissertation and practical experience in the field: a. Ensuring the most accurate estimate possible. b. Maintaining a priced library of materials that fit within the budget. c. Establishing close coordination between procurement and the interior designer. d. Making quick decisions. e. Establishing fixed suppliers with budgeted rates for many of the civil works. f. Ensuring the design team is knowledgeable about using the target price for material selection. g. Implementing cost control measures at every activity.

Specialist in Interior Design Enhancing Property Value through Functionality and Aesthetics Founder at The Little Shop of Colours.
Engineering in Interior Design I often have clients wishing to move structural walls to open up spaces within interior design projects. Working with engineers, we are able to achieve a balance of functionality and aesthetics, whilst remaining structurally sound. With respect to cost, we discuss the balance between supports and beams comprising part of the design or being placed in the ceiling to conceal same. Whilst the latter will add to the cost, the overall benefit may outweigh same to achieve a seamless approach and open plan concept. With renovation costs and the size of the project, the cost to conceal may be slight against the grander scheme. The material required (steel, timber or composite) will also determine overall cost. We also consult with engineers when necessary with respect to lighting, acoustics and safety systems. Engineers are consulted with early in the project given their advice will impede on all design elements. Here at The Little Shop of Colours we hold key relationships with engineers and all required professionals to ensure a cohesive and timely approach to all client projects.
