When I first started at Contentstack, I didn’t know much about tech, had never previously heard about solutions marketing, and had little experience working across multiple teams. I was so unsure of how the internship would pan out, but I knew I was chosen to be a part of the product and solutions marketing team for a reason. I quickly learned that I thrive in fast-paced environments. I learned that working with teams made up of such passionate people acts as one of the best motivators. I learned that having a manager and mentor as great as Marina Orievsky has been one of the best opportunities I could have ever accepted. On International Women’s Day, I want to recognize Marina, who has helped my confidence, knowledge, and marketing skills, grow into some of my greatest assets. During these last eight months, here are a few things I’ve learned while working with her: 🌟 Be a DOER It’s easy to say you want to do something, but when are you going to do it? Putting your ideas into action, completing tasks that come in from other teams, and pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone are all keys to the success of DOING. 💜 Lean on your team During the first month of my internship, I was terrified of my Slack messages being an “annoyance.” I quickly realized how crucial it was to become comfortable with asking questions. The crazy questions and ideas I’ve started pitching to Marina are quickly becoming my most valued projects. A supportive team that lets you take these ideas and run with them helps your creativity flourish and curiosity forever grow. 🛣️ Unforeseen changes give way to new opportunities I would consider myself to be very Type A. I love my to-do lists, I like to know my tasks for the week. But, I’ve also come to love change. It gives a chance to pivot your way of thinking, it opens up opportunities to start new projects, and it provides time to pause and regroup your focus.

Not too long ago, I wrapped up my spring internship as a Creative Media Intern with MediaNug. During my time this semester, I had the privilege of being submersed in the fast-paced environment of the media industry, working with both the Entertainment and the Content Teams from development to delivery. Creating mood boards with examples of color-grading, music, imagery, and thematic principles helped give inspiration to build out decks. These decks were utilized in pitching to potential clients for future movie promotions and ads used across various social media platforms, including but not limited to TikTok, Snapchat, Youtube, and Meta. I learned the ins and outs of sourcing and outreach, specifically in the context of gaining permission to use a creator’s content in MediaNug’s Snapchat shows. I’d like to give many thanks to Christopher Heiman for his guidance and mentorship, the opportunity to join the team, and his insistence I get involved with as many different processes in the organization as possible. I’d also like to thank Brendan Bodi and Alex Hausman for welcoming me with open arms and offering every opportunity to learn new things about this multi-faceted industry. Bringing on a remote intern with classes and a time change to work around requires flexibility, adaptability, and quite a bit of extra effort. I cannot express my gratitude and appreciation enough for this team, their efforts, and pushing me to grow as a professional. Looking forward to applying all that I’ve learned in my future roles and excited for what lies ahead! #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerGrowth #IndustryInsights #FutureLeaders #WorkplaceCulture #SkillsDevelopment #TeamCollaboration #NextSteps #GratefulForOpportunities

Did you know that the CEO of TikTok, Shou Zi Chew, started his career as an intern at Facebook? Chew didn't just land at the top of the ladder right away. He began his journey in the tech world by taking on an internship at Facebook. Rather than seeing it as just a temporary gig, Chew viewed it as a valuable opportunity to learn. During his time there, he observed the inner workings of the social media giant, absorbing everything he could about how the industry operated and understanding the strategies behind its success. But Chew's ambitions didn't end there. He ventured into various other fields, from venture capital to technology, honing a diverse skill set along the way. It was this combination of experiences and expertise that ultimately positioned him as the ideal candidate to lead TikTok's global expansion. Chew's story serves as a powerful reminder that every opportunity, no matter how humble it may seem, has the potential to equip you with valuable tools for future success. By seizing every chance to learn and grow, you pave the way for significant achievements down the line. Three months of immersive creativity and dynamic teamwork concludes my summer internship @TikTok! What started as a fascinating opportunity to delve into the live-streaming domain has transformed into an experience that has enriched both my professional skills and personal growth. From spearheading cross-regional collaborations to experiencing being a partnerships agency manager, and crunching monthly revenue numbers, I seized every opportunity. I penned a recruitment strategy paper and even had the chance to present it at our Agency Day & Open House. From idea to execution, my summer stint working for TikTok LIVE UK has been a journey of turning mere concepts into full-fledged deliverables. One of the most remarkable aspects of this internship has been the opportunity to connect with professionals who are not only experts in their fields but also genuinely passionate about pushing the boundaries of digital expression. Whether it was working with Rami Shamel on campaign education, brainstorming with Greg McPherson Seward on video concepts to boost creator engagement, watching everyone on the LIVE team beat Alex Ciminata at table tennis or simply chatting with Chloe Cara about her life as a content creator, the friendships forged, lessons learned, and memories made will undoubtedly stay with me as I navigate future endeavours. Thank you to my manager Sofia Poblano and the entire Agency team for taking me in as one of their own, trusting me to lead initiatives and never saying no. I am concluding this internship with not just a new skill set, but also a deeper appreciation for what it takes to run a live-streaming platform. This experience has solidified my aspiration to pursue a career path that merges creativity with strategy, and TikTok has provided the perfect backdrop for this realization. In addition, I also want to thank my graduate buddy Ayra Thanveer & the Early Careers team! Without their guidance, mentoring sessions & planned workshops, this scheme wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable. While the chapter of my summer internship may be coming to an end, I am filled with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude when announcing my continuation @TikTok as a part-time employee whilst simultaneously completing my final year @King's College London ❤️
