Founder | Creative Director @VFX PICK

Within just 40 days of opening, I had to close my new studio. 📍I had invested my savings into a large rented space capable of seating 300+ people. I had to make this tough decision because two major projects didn't turn out as expected. It was disappointing to see my dream unravel so quickly. To navigate the financial challenges, I had to make some difficult choices.  I knew one thing for certain. I shouldn't leave my employees just like that. As an entrepreneur, setbacks like this are not just about bouncing back but also about taking the time to reassess. In this challenging situation, my priority was our employees. I focused on retaining them at our main VFX PICK , ensuring their job security and income. Though my dream of the additional studio may have postponed, I’m grateful to keep my team together, we’ll come back stronger and reopen soon.  This setback is not just a hurdle but also a moment for reflection and growth. #vfxpick #vfxindustry #vfxstudio #vfx #vfxpickteam #team #entrepreneur #founder #veags2024 #writersstrike #vegas

have gone through a similar experience and can truly relate to the emotions you must be feeling. Trust me, this is not the end. While such setbacks are incredibly challenging, they also bring invaluable lessons that are hard to gain otherwise. During my own journey, I realized that each obstacle helped me grow stronger and more resilient. It's through these tough times that we often discover our true potential and the strength of our teams. Your commitment to your employees during this period is commendable and speaks volumes about your leadership and character. Keeping the team together and prioritizing their well-being will undoubtedly pay off in the long run. The bonds you’re strengthening now will be the foundation for future successes. Keep going, stay focused, and continue to learn and adapt. Your dream may be postponed for now, but with the determination and support you have, it will come to fruition. Your resilience and dedication will lead you to your day of triumph. Wishing you and your team all the best as you navigate through these times. We believe in you!

Bravo. You took a bold decision of retaining your team and saving thier jobs to your best abilities. Unlike a few seniors I knew who did the opposite to save their own jobs. The problem with the VFX industry is there so no business model. Only projects. Neither the pipeline nor output is standard - hence the fickle nature of the business As you rightly put it.. you will bounce back. As your intentions are good.

It’s such a rough time in VFX these days; you’re certainly not alone but the sting has to be rough. Can I respectfully ask why, Pinto Sasikumar in 2024, you chose to setup such a large office presence? I feel like lean and mean, and as remote as possible, will be the safest bet for the near future at least. Was the office location a mandate from the potential clients due to security or something?

I'm so sorry to hear this Pinto. I have seen how wonderful you have lead your team with a big smile and good attitude and its very hard to read your project has not turn out as expected. I'm sure the effort you are making to be able to maintain your workers will flourish into something better. Maybe the present day it's difficult but tomorrow will get better. My heart goes to the great VFX PICK team 💗

It is very easy to tell that ups and downs are an integral part of business, but those who are through that only know the difficulties. I am pretty sure that your team will be there with you to bounce back soon and overcome this period.

Your decision is 100% correct Pinto brother, spending money in this time is not advisable, you took wise move, money can be earned in any time. But don't make your peace of mind get affected. Go with a flow. Things will bounce back by next year. Redesign your business strategies.
