Pioneer Alumni Ambassador Katelyn, from Beijing, China, participated in a Pioneer research concentration addressing global cyber power, in the research area of political science/STS. In the video, she explains why what she is most proud of about her Pioneer experience is simply finishing a 20-page paper, which was her first research paper, despite meeting many challenges. She chose an ambitious research topic, and accomplished something that she had never imagined being able to do in high school. “That was pretty cool,” she says.

Meeting Your Hero Imagine if you were a physicist and you had the opportunity to speak to Isaac Newton or, as a mathematician, to speak, to Carl Friedrich Gauss. This week, it will happen for me, as Whitfield Diffie is coming along to speak to our students and guests. And, so, I have never been so nervous in speaking to someone … even Queen Elizabeth II … than with the Father of Cryptography … Whitfield Diffie. For this, on Tuesday, I have the chance to speak to him. Basically, if you’re a physicist, there’s a good chance that Brian Cox was the person who got you into your area. For me, I do what I do because of Whitfield Diffie and Marty Hellman. I have read their paper so many times, and I just love how it secured our world. The work at Stanford (Hellman and Diffie) and MIT (Rivest, Shamir and Adleman) in the 1980s, too, has motivated me in my research and created our foundation of cybersecurity. Organisations with limited cyber security in place continue to be a prime target for cyber criminals looking to exploit loopholes and gain access to sensitive data, as shown in this recent article. However, it isn't necessarily the organisation's #data that is the target, but more about who the target works with. In this case, universities work with a range of suppliers and conduct research with businesses that can provide access to larger organisations with more sensitive data. The cyber criminals then look for clues and loopholes that would provide information or access to other businesses. Neuways have worked with COO's and CFO's all over the world to help them protect their company's sensitive data. Let us help you strengthen your #cybersecurity processes and ensure that your business is not the next target. Don't wait for a #data breach like this one to occur to your company; it's not worth the #financial consequences. hello@neuways.com 01283 753333 neuways.com/contact-us/

[12/28, 9:39 AM] Barath Cyber 💥: History History is an academic discipline which uses a narrative to describe, examine, question, and analyze past events, and investigate their patterns of cause and effect.[6][7] Historians debate which narrative best explains an event, as well as the significance of different causes and effects. Historians debate the nature of history as an end in itself, and its usefulness in giving perspective on the problems of the present.[6][8][9][10] #snsinstitution #deptofcybersince2022
