It is a busy time of year for all #professionals (year-end!), but it is also a time of year where many people start thinking about #givingbacktothecommunity! There are so many Activate Good volunteer opportunities throughout the year, but Saturday, November 18 is #FamilyVolunteerDay and the perfect time to serve, learn, and reflect with the whole family. It's my favorite volunteer event of the year (the energy is positive and fun)...so I'm inviting my #linkedinnetwork to grab your family and friends, and join Ethan Gabriel and I for #FamilyVolunteerDay at Marbles Kids Museum to work together on a variety of hands-on project to make a difference in the community! Registration required. https://lnkd.in/gKi_jzXg

Back in 2018, I first started to think about how we could get textbooks sitting unused in a class cupboard in London shared with a cash-strapped school in Yorkshire. After five years of hard graft, School Resources Exchange properly got going last year. While it has been challenging to say the least, it's also pretty amazing to be starting 2024 with a live service that is already being used by and helping hundreds of schools. The focus for this year is simple - help more schools. What we're doing is a no-brainer. It's a free service which can benefit every single school in the UK. The impact of sharing surplus items between schools is a genuine game-changer on so many levels. If you know someone connected to a school - a staff member, parent, governor, etc - be sure to tell them about us as it really could help them out enormously. 👇 The short video explains exactly what we're doing and how the service - a nationwide schools' circular sharing community - can benefit every single school in the UK. #schools #schoofunding #schoolresources #schoolbudgets #circulareconomy #communityimpact #secondaryeducation #primaryeducation #teachers #headteachers #slt #schoolbusinessmanagers
Last year our focus was on launching. This year we're excited to be growing our community and working in partnership with lots more schools. If you know someone who works in a school then be sure to tell them about us.

The Heartbeat of Our Communities: The Unwavering Importance of County Fairs In an age where digital connections often overshadow face-to-face interactions, county fairs stand as vibrant reminders of the power of community, tradition, and shared joy. These gatherings are not just events; they are a mosaic of local culture, agriculture, and innovation, where every stall, ride, and competition weaves a story of community strength, resilience, and togetherness. County fairs have been the cornerstone of community engagement for centuries, offering a unique blend of education, entertainment, and celebration of local heritage. They are where farmers showcase the fruits of their year-long labor, where local artisans and craftsmen find a wider audience, and where families create memories that last a lifetime. Beyond the fun and festivities, fairs play a pivotal role in supporting local economies, fostering youth development through 4-H and FFA programs, and highlighting the importance of agriculture in our daily lives. But their significance extends even further. County fairs are a testament to the enduring spirit of our communities, showcasing the ability to come together in celebration even in challenging times. They remind us of the importance of slowing down, appreciating the moment, and valuing the connections we have with those around us. As we look towards the future, let's champion the legacy of our county fairs. Let's support them, not just as attendees, but as active participants in preserving this vital part of our cultural heritage. Whether you're a local business sponsor, a volunteer, or a fairgoer, your involvement ensures that the heart of our communities continues to beat strongly through these cherished gatherings. Let's come together to celebrate our local culture, achievements, and the simple joys of community life. Here's to many more years of laughter, learning, and legacy at our county fairs. 🌾🎢🎤 #CountyFairs #CommunityEngagement #LocalCulture #Agriculture #FamilyTradition
