Lomandra longifolia Breeze is an evergreen grass that is tough and hardy. Recommended to add to any mass plantings, dry borders or containers. Lomandra Breeze can grow 24 to 40 inches tall as well in width, perfect grass to add to any garden with low growing shrubs. The leaves are accented by spiny yellow flower spikes. It is recommended to plant in full sun to moderate shade. It is a drought tolerant plant. Once it gets established, it can also take regular irrigation or even wet soils. A perfect grass to add to any garden that stays evergreen and easy to maintain. Only maintenance required, is to pony tail the grass and cut back using hand shears. It is definitely a favorite in my garden, where the deer don't touch!

Hydroponics benefits:- 1. Faster Growth: Hydroponic plants typically grow 30-50% faster than soil-grown plants due to direct access to nutrients and controlled environments. 2.Water Efficiency: Hydroponic systems use up to 90% less water than traditional soil gardening, making them ideal for drought-prone areas. 3.Space Saving: Hydroponic setups can be tailored to fit small spaces, allowing urban gardeners and apartment dwellers to grow fresh produce. 4. Pest and Disease Control: With no soil to harbor pests and diseases, hydroponic plants are less susceptible to infestations, reducing the need for pesticides. 5. Year-Round Harvest: By controlling light and temperature, hydroponic gardening enables year-round cultivation, providing a steady supply of fresh produce regardless of season." #benefits #hydroponics #soillessfarming #farming #agriculture

Perhaps the first thing to consider when planning a garden is the water source. In many municipalities, water is in short supply, expensive, or may contain problematic chemicals. One way to buffer this is to utilize nature’s free water source, rainfall, or to use the greywater from household sinks and showers before it goes down the drain. Do yourself a favor and save some money on your water and landscaping bills this summer. How? Plant something native to your climate. Native plants are one of those systems that have multiple advantages that feed into each other-> Reason #1: They last longer. Why: Native plants are already adapted to the local climate and soil conditions. Reason #2: They don't need as much water as non-native plants Why: They're already adapted to the amount of rain the climate has. Reason #3: They don't need as much fertilizer and pesticides/insecticides Why: Because they have evolved to thrive in the natural conditions of the area without additional resources. Reason #4: All of the above saves you time, and money Why: It reduces the time, effort, and cost associated with gardening, irrigation and landscaping. Recommendations for Texas? Texas Sage Heartleaf Marshmallow Purple Cornflowers Red Yuccas (This is a love/hate relationship, I am in the 'love' camp) Let me know in the comments if you've planted native plants at your house. We've got a few Red Yuccas that we love in the spring time!

It's fall, y'all! As you prepare your landscapes for cooler months, here are helpful tips to consider: 🍂 Wait until spring to cut grasses back as they add interest to your landscape during fall and winter. 🍂 Fall is a great time to plant as cool nights help roots establish. Resist the urge to plant late into October as roots need six weeks to establish prior to the first freeze. 🍂 Decrease irrigation as days become shorter. 🍂 Leave plant stems and leaves to provide homes for pollinators. Have you tried any of these fall landscaping tips? Let us know in the comments!

Once established, native grasses only require water every 16 days (100F days may be an exception). In our next project (and others), we have also designed in hidden water sequestration below and surrounding the grass. Maintenance? Only IF you want a mowed grass look, once every 4-5 weeks! Which native grass is right for you? It depends! Nothing is more important than the irrigation design and soil. This client had replaced their regular grass 3(!!) times, and still not had success. Charlie 🐶approves! Native plants, orchard and edible plants surround this entire property, and yet there’s native grass for the kids, dog, chickens, and all to enjoy! Love grass? Leave me a, “🌱.” Lawns are awesome when they’re not water hogs, and require zero chemicals! #HoneyGirlGrows #GardenDesign #NativeLawn #NativeGrasses
