Piscataquis Regional Food Center Adjusts Service Area to Focus on Core Communities Starting January 1, 2025, the Piscataquis Regional Food Center (PRFC) will focus its marketplace services exclusively on residents of Piscataquis County and the Dover-Foxcroft community. This adjustment, though difficult, ensures PRFC can continue to provide quality support to those most in need within their core service area. In 2025, residents of Dover-Foxcroft, Atkinson, and Bowerbank will be invited to shop at the Food Center marketplace twice monthly. All other residents of Piscataquis County will be invited to shop once per month. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gik-vjwi

GlobalMedic launched the McAntony's Menu program nearly four years ago to address rising food insecurity, particularly in Toronto. As more people relied on food banks, the program helped increase the food supply by purchasing in bulk, ensuring efficient use of resources. Recently, volunteers from Local 416 helped out, recognizing the growing need and helping to give back to their communities.

Cannot stop thinking about the Detroit People's Food Co-op since I first learned about it. An except from the Facebook post that enlightened me: "What is a food coop? A food co-op is a grocery store that’s owned by its member/owners as opposed to a grocery store such as Kroger or Meijer which has corporate ownership or an independent grocery store owned by a family or individual. In a food co-op members have a role in shaping the store culture, operations, and product standards. Detroit People’s Food Co-op is democratically controlled by its member/owners. Each member/owner can only purchase one ownership share and has one vote. Although food co-ops, like all businesses, must have revenues that exceed operating costs if they are to be sustainable, food co-ops prioritize community well-being over making profits for member/owners." https://lnkd.in/e3epEDRi
