Moms of college students, There is a very high value to getting a job in an industry that isn’t related to your major.  For coops and internships, the main thing that employers are looking for is that the candidates know what a job means.  What does having a job mean?  You know how to follow a dress code. You know how to deal with people. You know how to figure things out on your own and ask for help when you need it. It means not leaving your shift until things are done and letting your boss know if things aren’t complete. Employers  want students to know what having a job means rather than have the student learn on their dime. Identifying Real vs. Fake Internships 🎓 Clear Payment Details 👉 Make sure the internship offer clearly states how much you'll get paid. No surprises! 📊 Performance Expectations 👉 Check if they tell you what you need to achieve to earn your pay. It keeps things fair. 💼 Watch out for Tricky Titles 👉 If they want you to sell stuff but call it a finance internship, it's probably not legit. 💰 Don't Pay to Work 👉 Real internships don't ask you to shell out money. If they do, it's not the real deal. 👥 Get Support 👉 Make sure they assign someone to help you learn. You don't want to feel lost. 🔍 Ask Other Interns: 👉 Reach out to past interns on LinkedIn.
