Workers appear to be one step closer to resuming construction at the new $1.5 billion UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland after the healthcare giant was issued an electrical permit Wednesday afternoon — but they’re still waiting on two other permits to be approved. The city of Pittsburgh halted work at the site last Thursday, claiming some aspects of the project had begun without the required permits. The stoppage by the Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections forced about 150 workers off the job.

Could modular construction help relieve the pressure on the rising demand for NHS services? A record high demand for procedures, an ageing population and staffing shortages are adding to the NHS's challenges, leaving some patients waiting months and even years for treatment. In addition, the £11.6bn maintenance backlog could lead to major service disruption. Modular construction offers an innovative delivery approach that enables to the fast-track delivery of bespoke, surgical facilities that meet the stringent requirements that NHS Trusts must achieve. 90% of our construction activity takes place in a factory controlled environment, drastically minimising disruption to live hospital activities, allowing the NHS to focus on what they do best: delivering excellent care to our communities. #MissionAccomplished 🌟 Replacing the roof of our hospital’s patient tower was a crucial $2 million investment that has had a profound impact on our ability to provide high-quality care to our patients and maintain a safe, comfortable environment for our staff. Prior to the roof replacement, our facility faced numerous challenges due to the aging and deteriorating condition of the roof. Leaks were a common occurrence, causing disruptions to patient care and potentially compromising the sterility of our medical equipment and supplies. Water damage to ceilings, walls, and floors created potential safety hazards and an unsightly appearance that detracted from the healing atmosphere we strive to maintain at HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland. The leaks also posed risks to our sensitive medical equipment, such as MRI machines and CT scanners, which are critical for diagnosing and treating our patients. Any damage to this equipment could have resulted in costly repairs or replacements, and more importantly, interruptions to patient care. By undertaking this comprehensive roof replacement project, we have addressed these issues head-on. The new roof provides a reliable barrier against the elements, ensuring that our facility remains dry and free from leaks. This, in turn, protects our medical equipment, minimizes disruptions to patient care, and allows our staff to focus on their primary mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services. Moreover, the new roof has improved the energy efficiency of our facility. With proper insulation and advanced roofing materials, we can now better regulate the temperature and humidity levels within the building. This not only enhances patient and staff comfort but also helps us reduce our energy consumption and operating costs, allowing us to allocate more resources to direct patient care initiatives. The completion of this roof replacement project demonstrates our commitment to maintaining a state-of-the-art healthcare facility that prioritizes patient well-being and staff satisfaction. By investing in our infrastructure, we are ensuring that our facility can continue to serve as a beacon of healing and hope for our community for years to come. I’d like to thank our expert roofing consultant - Patty Hall, Andrew Nelson - President of Trident Construction, Inc., and the entire team who we had the pleasure of collaborating with on this important project. #HCA #HCAHouston #HealthcareLeadership #ProjectManagement #HealthcareOperations

Thank you to Houston Methodist for the continued commitment to The Woodlands and serving healthcare needs of our community. It has been amazing to witness the growth of the healthcare offerings to our residents over the last decade. The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership recently announced that healthcare jobs lead the way, making up 31% of our total non-retail workforce, nearly 13,000 healthcare employees! Ten years ago, healthcare made up 17% of that workforce. The energy sector made up 32% of the workforce in 2014, and today is less than 9%. The growth of healthcare, and the overall diversification of our workforce in The Woodlands has been remarkable. We are seeing continued diversification in the businesses moving to The Woodlands into our portfolio. The quality of our local workforce is still tremendous for energy companies, while other industries are recognizing the opportunity to tap into those resources, locating their business in a pro-business, pro-growth, pro-employee lifestyle community. #HowardHughes #Healthcare David P.
