*Sigh* This faulty report is still bouncing around, so I'll say it again (and encourage you to check my previous post on this): #Remoteworkers are *not* more likely to be laid off because they are remote workers, at least as far as trustworthy data is showing. Instead, companies in industries that have a higher proportion of remote workers are also laying off more people due to existing market conditions and executive decisions related specifically to those industries, and not the working arrangements. Now it is true that there are fewer remote jobs to be had, and many remote workers are getting called back into the office. That's a whole different issue, though. https://lnkd.in/ghEhaSjA

Is it remote? That's a common response right now. I believe remote shows a lack of interest in your career - especially early in your career - because I believe you learn in person. It's not just about the job skills it's everything - being a professional sounds like a good summary of the situation. And the below article launches with a big statement: "Higher pay requires higher commitment, and that includes showing up at the office every day..." Are you willing to take less money to be remote? It's probably hard to say what the long term implications are on someone's career because this is all still so new but I would imagine there'll be a big impact on careers long term as well. #remote #hybrid #rto https://lnkd.in/gMCtMVeN

As someone in recruitment, I’ve been a remote worker long before COVID-19 made it a common request among job seekers. There are so many perks to working remotely—like having lunch with my toddler most days or being able to work through a cold without worrying about spreading it to colleagues. But I’ve also noticed that it can be harder to connect with people in a large organization when you’re not in the office. That said, the idea of going back to a 5-day-a-week office routine feels pretty overwhelming. What about you? Would you consider leaving your current role if full-time onsite work became a requirement again? What do you think are the biggest benefits or challenges of remote work as you explore new career opportunities? Check out this article for some interesting data: https://lnkd.in/d_ntZBnR #RemoteWork #FutureOfWork #CareerOpportunities #WorkFromHome #HybridWork #JobMarket

Wow...where does this leave Remote Workers???.. Many companies seem to be using so many tactics to get remote workers back to the office and this one beats them all..........if you come into the office once a week, does this count you as a non-remote worker? I am just stunned how backward our world has become...all to fill office space and drink more water from water coolers! https://lnkd.in/eZwtXJVr

What do you think? A new study by job-seeking website Ladders found that high-paying remote jobs fell nearly 60% over the past year, while hybrid job availability fell 95%. Higher-paying jobs require more commitment from their employees, including showing up to the office daily. Companies have found it is better for their bottom line to have workers in the office versus working from home. https://lnkd.in/gVpk42bY

I'd hoped that big-business would realize after Covid that remote workers can be as, if not more productive than onsite workers, allowing corporations the opportunity to reduce building related costs, reduce greenhouse emissions caused by commuters, and have happier, better rested employees. If you can't trust a remote worker to do the work, you've got the wrong person on your team, regardless of their location. Remote workers are more likely to be laid off or miss out on promotion opportunities than their peers who work in the office or in hybrid environments, potentially exposing employers to costly discrimination lawsuits. A January survey from Live Data Technologies Inc. found that in 2023 fully remote white-collar workers were 35% more likely to get laid off than colleagues who put in at least some time in the office. The software development firm, which tracks job trends, analyzed a sample of two million workers and also found that remote employees were 31% less likely to get promoted.
