This picture is taken in 2016 at one of the best workplaces I had so far. If this does not stimulate creativity, then I do not know what else would… I did not have a huge salary, nor did I have stunning benefits. But my work mattered and the team was great. Plus, we had a strong purpose - to create customer centric digital solutions that add real value to our customers. Many people who prefer Home Office today are running from a toxic culture. Create something meaningful coming back for and you will soon need to rent additional working space. Use science based interventions to care for peoples’ well-being, use new designs for neuro-enhancing spaces. A common misconception: People just don't want to come into spaces anymore. Unfortunately, that's not true.  They just don't want to come into specific spaces. We know that coffee shop foot traffic is way up post pandemic.  If you've walked into any Bluebottle, Bluestone Lane, or other 3rd wave coffee shop lately there's an army of people with laptops doing work and meeting. There's also some just casually just catching up. Additionally, membership spaces are doing quite well.  Spaces like SohoHouse continues to be packed in all cities, and newer offerings keep popping up.  These spaces are: 1. An easy choice to go to because of positive experiences. 2. They're conveniently located. 3. They're well designed. 4. They're usually tied into technology (membership apps, ordering apps, etc) So what spaces are people not gravitating towards? 1. Places they're mandated to go to (psychological effect of reactance) 2. Places that are hard to get to (long commute) 3. Places that are poorly designed causing additional stress (loud, badly lit, poor privacy) 4. Places that aren't enabled (can't find desk, get the resources you need, or even find your teammates) How can you counteract each of these? 1. Use flexibility and choice, not mandates.  Provide programs that bring people together. 2. Update your location strategy.  It's more important than ever. 3. Look at your existing space with fresh eyes, does it actually serve your team in 2024? 4. Enable your teams with technology.  Every person has a consumer centric enabled device on them 24/7. It's 2024, we can enable teams and help people get together without making the same mistakes as last year.
