So your open source product has thousands of GitHub stars, a vast developer community, and millions of Docker pulls. 💪 For developer-focussed sales and marketing teams, the pressing question then becomes: how can we transition these open source users into enterprise customers? 💰 After speaking with hundreds of open-source companies, we’ve identified crucial signals that can influence the conversion from open source use to enterprise deals. We've built these intent signals into Reo.Dev, which is already enhancing monetization strategies for over 25 leading dev tool companies. 🚦 In this episode of 'The Modern DevTool GTM Brew', I'm sharing a playbook on the key signals to watch out for when converting open-source users to enterprise customers. Building Secure, Scalable Infrastructure, Data Pipelines and CI/CD pipelines in the Cloud | Platform Engineer | Cloud Devops Engineer | Site Reliability Engineer | Golang Developer | Observability
Github is one of the highly used as source version control tool for code and github-actions is one of the widely used CI/CD tool to continously deliver the product, by building pipelines. Often when we write these pipelines we would be using third-party actions from the Github action market place, which reduces the time, makes the process repetable and error-prone. But sometimes even the market place doesn't offer the actions that we want to use within our pipeline. In the below article i explained a step by step process on how to create your custom github action using an example of parlay ( A SBOM enricher ) #github #cicd #githubactions #devops #platformengineering #softwareengineering

Brad Micklea and Jesse Williams both have a long history of working in open source companies, so I was happy to have them on The Business of Open Source even though their company, Jozu, is young. It gave us a lot of space to talk about what they've learned from companies like Codenvy, Red Hat, Docker, Inc and more. We talked about how open source has gone from the domain of hippies to being full of corporate suits, about focusing on what people are getting from your software (ie the value they get!) not what you're giving them (ie the features you're delivering) and making sure the delta in value between project and product is big enough. We also talked about feature prioritization — it's not simple to know which feature is the most pressing to deliver to users (or customers), and yet it can be critical to the company's trajectory. And a reminder: a new feature is the slowest, most expensive way to meet your users' and customers' needs. If you can do it some other way, you should.
