I’m Not Trying to Make a Mark - But I might not have a choice People talk about leaving legacy or making a mark in all kinds of ways. Most of them un-relatable and kind of pretentious. Over the course of the five years that have passed since I started Talenthunt my goal has been nothing more than to provide for my family in a way that is personally fulfilling and that, in some way, is helpful to others. The funny thing about being a recruiter, however, is that even when you are trying to help, no matter where you go, you seem to be preceded by a professional reputation that fluctuates between less than ideal and downright awful. Every recruiter deals with it, and as an industry, sometimes I think we deserve it. But its a weird thing being caught behind a rep that could be more inaccurate, because everyone at Talenthunt really cares about the people we serve. We are not a ‘hit and quit it’, transactional business. We are is in the business of helping companies find the talented people they need to reach their goals, and the business of helping people get great jobs. We are not interested in putting square peg candidates in round hole organizations for the sake of a paycheck. To me, that isn’t right, or good business. We are also not the kind of company to let some ‘guilty by association’ stigma keep us from doing hiring right. And in that never-ending quest to better serve and support our clients, we set out to build something that will change this industry, and hiring, for the better. And I think we’ve done that. In two weeks, I’ll be in Chicago to unveil an approach to hiring that is supportive of, and in service to, both businesses and job candidates. It something different and something that works. We are really proud of what we have created. It certainly hasn’t been easy. We didn’t set out on this journey looking to make a mark or leave a legacy, but I think we just might anyway. Wish me luck!
